Just bought one of these little lights. It uses a 2 watt CREE LED, operates on one AA Battery (NIMH or lithium recommended), and puts out a lot of light.

There is a white LED and a smaller red one. You can switch to either easily. Both lights are variable intensity, have strobe and flashing functions, and an SOS function.

The light is about half an inch in diameter, about three to three and a half inches long, and very light.

Run time varies with intensity. Cost is about $70, but I got one for $44.98 from an eBay store: http://stores.ebay.com/Gad-Zooks_Flashlights_Photon_W0QQcolZ2QQdirZQ2d1QQfsubZ690718QQftidZ2QQtZkm

The Photon Proton Pro light is at top right.

It's not a headlamp. It's a flashlight. And the link I posted offers it for $45.
