Spent the last year hiking in the mountains/desert in AZ. I'm looking to do some back country hiking in MI. Anyone out there interested or knowledgeable on some good hikes?

Thanks!

I've got an Aug.22nd-24th trip planned and also a trip to Isle Royale for Sept.8th-15th.

You'd be welcome to join either of these hikes.

email me for further details:

Look into the Porcupine mountans in the UP. Its by far one of the best. Isle Royale is a bit of a pain given it being an island and the variable of the ferry (dont miss it)

It's a long ferry ride too. Pictured rocks is very unique, and gorgeous. Trap Hills is pretty wild. Are you talking U.P or lower? That makes a big difference. And how any days you want to spend in the the "woods"?

Trapp Hills are very wild!! LOL and the Porkies are full o Black Bear (The half frozen, half starved and mad as hell kind), really!! I have had more bear problems there than anywhere I have been!!

If you go make sure you work up on your navigation skills, the trail tends to be very poorly marked in some areas. You can read more about it here:

Ncthiker has a lot of knowledge about this trail, more than most of us anyway!!
Aditional sources would be Prosecutor (Ed!!) He has been up there a lot and takes meticulous notes!! I think he even maintains a section of the trail!

Uplover goes there alot as well and is a good guy and an experienced hiker. I would drop them a line.
See ya later.
