I'll be visiting RRG for the first time next weekend, and was wondering what trails I should hike. There looks to be a lot of short interconnecting trails. Thanks.

what are you looking for? what kind of mileage do you want to do? do you like rugged with mild elevation gain, or less rugged but with more elevation gain? do you like arches or wide, expansive views?

The best features of RRG are known only to the locals.

for a good solid workout, try the rough trail. 7 or 8 miles long with moderate gains. for ruggedness and decent solitude, try the swift camp creek trail on the east side. for knock-your-socks off views, do the auxier ridge trail. the best arch is grays arch, just off of the rough trail

Actually jmitch I was thinking of going there next weekend for a car camping trip. Haven't decided on Koomer or one of the primitive spots. Taking a friend and her two kids and they have never been there. Since none of them know how to sh*t in the woods it definitely will not be a backpack trip.

I plan on getting there mid morning on Saturday.

Drop me an email if you want to meet up.
