i like it for a slow rap at the end of a climb. i back it up with a petzl shunt. i go to climb, not to rappel and i won't lower off of fixed anchors (wears them out over time... st00pid sense of climbing ethics.) the rap at the end is the part i feel i am most likely to screw up plus the shunt makes it super easy if you need both hands to clean a stuck piece of gear.

the fig-8 builds up a lot of heat. i had only one ATC on this trip which crash was using when i climbed, so i used the fig-8 to descend.”

“it's remarkable how much easier it is to climb a route after youve tried it once and failed. that spot at the bottom of american crack that had me stuck so long was a piece of cake the second time (after i studied it for a few minutes)
