Hoosier National Forest

“ok, so ive been to the deam a ton of times, especially patton cave and camp peeper, and been to 2 lakes and pate hollow a few times, as well as youngs creek and shirley creek once each.

what other trails are good for backpacking? german ridge? morgan ridge? birdseye? nebo ridge? hickory ridge?”

hickory ridge has a lot of trails...it's pretty popular with horses...they don't really promote backpacking in that area too much but since it is a national forest you can camp anywhere...you could put something together by combining mogan ridge west and east...shirley creek and spring valley aren't bad either...those are about the only ones that really lend themselves to backpacking...the other trails are too short

here's something about hemlock cliffs, but it's a pretty short trail too

i've only backpacked the ones you mentioned...i've day hike a lot of this...hemlock is pretty interesting, some topography not common in indiana...the rest is typical indiana hiking...lot of hardwoods, some knobs, and some up and downs with no significant climbs similar to the knobstone...i think randal knows a lot about this area...i know i've heard him talk about pate hollow a lot”
