I `ve had one of my wifes friends reccommend this Park as a definite place to visit. I didn`t find the State Park website very helpful. So I thought I`d come to the experts ........:). Looking for honest opnions as I have 5 days off coming up and I`m looking for somewhere different.

Thanks

Depends on what you want. For wilderness.... not at all. For river gorge and scenery... it can be. For car camping yes. For primitive camping ... forget it.

It is a long river gorge that is very scenic and rather crowded. I used to enjoy it when I lived in NY but it has been ages since I have been there. But for a rustic experience... you would best look elsewhere.

Very nice park, some great short dayhikes. The gorge is impressive, but not in a wilderness. The falls are great, as are the views. Worth the visit.

I don`t live in the USA so I`m not sure on that one. There are Provincial Parks in Canada not worth the drive that`s for sure !

If it helps put things in perspective, the Glen Iris Inn, the conference center at Letchworth is a very popular place for wedding receptions. Fine dining, beautiful scenery. There are some day hikes where you might be alone for a few minutes... maybe even an hour but it is a very popular park.

The hike along the gorge is not particularly challenging but it is pretty.

If you are interested in Letchworth, I doubt you would need five days for that. If you are going to be in that area the second weekend of Oct let me know and you can tag onto a backpacking trip along the northern end of the West Rim Trail in PA. That won't be a butt buster but it should be pretty with the foliage. It's mostly a hangers trip, but we would not exclude tenters if they wanted to come.

The WRT is an excellent trail and the northern end is where the pretty vistas are overlooking the Pine Creek Gorge.
