“Zaleski is a good trail, but personally I like Vesuvius better. Archers Fork is a rougher trail and Shawnee has a more wilderness like experience (no views, deep greens). The best non-bp area in the state is Hocking Hills. You can camp there and dayhike to your hearts content, lots of cool stuff, caves, waterfalls, sweeping views, etc.

If I want to go backpacking for the weekend I head west to Deam or east to Dolly Sods. The Sods being my personal favorite area east of the Miss.”

I haven't been to Zaleski in a long time. The place has been over used for years now.”

You are right about the Big Z being overcrowded, never been there when there weren't at least two groups of boyscouts numbering in the 20's each.”

“I'm working on the boss (wife). I should have something firmed up by 5 minutes before I'm leaving to come down there. I'm kind of leaning towards not biking, getting down there late, dumping my pack near camp and then road hoof it in the dark. Hiking in in the dark has worked out pretty good in the past for me. What could go wrong? (/sarcasm)
