Newfound Gap to Fontana Dam

“Anyone interested in hiking the AT -Newfound Gap to Fontana Dam between Nov.7 thru Nov.10. I get Mon. off for Veteran's Day so I thought it might be a good chance to knock out the 40 mile section. Let me know.”

Did that hike a couple of years ago the first week in May. Great hike. Thunderhead Mountain, and Rocky Top were definitely some of the high lights.”

“Looks like this trip might work out. I'm going to start checking on shelter space. Will most likely finish on Sunday though. So might have to start at Clingman Dome”

“I have to try to request Thursday off, I already have that friday off cause i was gonna go on the Sipsey TT trip, but that has become too big now. I want some serious hiking in the park knocked out this fall.
Grab me a spot in the shelter when you ask around, and i'll let you know ASAP if i'm able to swing Thursday off.
I also have to get out of a neices b-day party, but I had a trip planned first!”

“Hey Opie here's what I've got so far. I've got a permit for 4 at Silers Bald on the 7th and Spence Field on the 8th. I've got a friend and his boss that are interested and should let me know soon. I've also got Friday off, and thinking of going up on Thurs, after work”

Saturday - 11.9 miles
Sunday - 16.1 miles

I'm gonna have to look at the elevation profile for sunday, that makes me sore just thinking about a 16 miler.”
