You had a seperated shoulder and they wanted to take your pants off? Its a good thing you didn't go in with a head injury...

Spindle, we won't be anywhere near 78 and that Bedlam... the LV mall is a disaster that day.. 145 is a freakin' parking lot with people waiting to get into best buy...

I will be avoiding that area like the plague...

Good news is... I have 'un-bailed'... Let the 'un-bailing' begin..

See you 'non-bailers' Friday....

I am still going, but I have to go back to the dentist today. My tooth is giving me a lot of trouble again.

Has anyone picked jmitch's brain about where to camp each night?

Don't touch them!!

That's how mine infect me. They come home from that infectious cesspool of viral filth they call "school" and leave contagion everywhere.

I'd tie 'em to the roof if I was you. Just in case.

We're just gonna hike east till we see a fire and drunk people and hope its you.

This whole trip is getting too confusing.. Why don't we just start at PA183 and Hike the AT East... LOL

We could wind up at Cabelas on Sunday...

I would be fine with an AT section hike. We would have shelters to get out of the snow, rain, wind and ice.

I was sort of joking... and my maps are at home...

From what I remember its 15 miles North from 183 to 61 (Port Clinton).. It's flat until the down hill... we could stay at the pavillion.. Then it's a steep up hill out from there...

I think the next day would be the long one if we tried to get to the Back Oven Knob shelter at 309..

I'll have to look when I get home... You all let me know what you want to do...

(I think we just Hijacked Jmitch's trip)

If we hike in from 183 it's about 6 miles into Eagles Nest. The late arrivals can come in via the slackerish Sand Spring Trail.

From Eagles Nest it's 8 miles into Port Clinton and the Port Clinton Hotel with food/bar.
spindlette
5:44:36 AM
11/26/08

Ummmmm, you'll be going down the STEEP hill. Leaving Port Clinton going AT North is a cakewalk.

I plan on heading back home from Buffalo Saturday and if you guys are planning that stretch I may come out for the night. That's right in my backyard.

Spindle, what if we start at either Port Clinton or 309.. I would like to try to get a few miles hiked... depending how we set it up, we could get the bake oven view knob as well as pinnacle and pulpit... we could even utilize the parking at 309 and the bake oven knob road to stash food/beverage, therefore packing lighter..

Hmmmm, I like the climb out of Port Clinton. You need that section?

I will drag out maps now...
spindlette

Parking at 309 is probably a bad idea unless you can convince the folks at the bar to let you use their lot.

Since there is a bar at 309, you probably don't need to stash anything there.

The Bake Oven Knob shelter was pretty ugly last time I was there.

Ok, Port Clinton into Eckville is about 15 miles. Eckville to 309 is a bit shy of 12.

Bake Oven is north of that by about 4.5.

You could end your hike just shy of the Superfund Site.

Either way, there have been a lot of break-ins reported at 309 over the years. I wouldn't recommend parking there.

CrazyPace

Spindle, I need pretty much everything North of 183.. I have done 309 to Bake Oven Knob and Pinnacle/Pulpit (3 times) but for the sake of stringing together a section, i would do them again...

Also since we are close to my parents I can hike a little longer on Sunday..

CP, yes, the Allentown shelter is between Eckville Shelter and 309. About 4 miles south of 309.

Just a suggetion

Friday:
183 North-->Eagle's Nest (easy in for late arrivals)

Saturday:
Eagle's Nest-->Port Clinton Lunch-->Windsor Furnace (I show up with beer and pizza)

Sunday:
Easy out or end at Eckville.

Idea - Start at the resivor and go to either Allentown shelter or if feelin good - Bake oven knob shelter. Then on saturday hike to lehigh gap. many choices of camping for saturday night. Spotting vehicles will be easy too.

Reservoir - Allentown Shelter = 16 miles (Friday)

Allentown - Bake Oven = 10 miles
Allentown Shelter - Lehigh Gap = 16 miles (Saturday)

Out on Sun.

Someone will need to spot a car for out on Sun.
