Creek Dancer it'll be too COLD to be very wet, boggy, or muddy. BONUS!

Rocks are a given.

32oz, define "climb". It's PA.

Lets refer to it as rolling terrain.

Yes, I'm sure of it....

Marko - check your e-mail!

That feeling is nothing more than lust. Lust, I say! Ignore the e-mail, Mark-O! It will do nothing but get ye into trouble.

Never mind. I found a crude elevation chart.. looks like we have a few 500+ft climbs.. nothing major....

Besides I need the excercise... What's a few extra pounds....

That kegs Yuengling, right?

If we're going that route, we might as well do each others hair and nails and talk about boys.

from what I understand, Friday night camp is very close to the parking area.

If Mark goes, maybe we could all (crazypace, pennsy, mark and me, the friday night gang) along the way and then drop cars at the east trailhead on 504 and ride with Mark to parking area at Friday night camp. Mark would have an easy get away Saturday morning and our vehicles will be there at the finish line Sunday.

Mark, you thinking of camping Frdiay night?

This is one of those PA "moderate" trails nothing too extreme. You could certainly make Fridays camp MarkO.

I'm going to bail on this one, my hiking buddy Bigfoot and I are heading to Shenandoah for some scramblin up Old Rag, visiting a few other viewpoints, and helping them close down Skyland for the season. I hear there's some beer that needs finishing down in the tap room!

That being said, I can't supply the beer for Sat nite. I would recommend someone spot a car at the trail crossing on Julian Pike with supplies for Sat nite. What kind of boneheads would carry supplies 30 miles when there's a road crossing so close to Sat nites camp?
Oh and when I googled the directions to Julian pike, the road had a local name "Beaver Road" go figure!
Anyway, I'm sure you all will have a super trip, I'll look for the trip report

Cocoa head, I'm beginning to think you are avoiding me... I hike SNP every other week, and you don't show up.. Then the week I don't hike it and come up to PA, you head down to SNP... WTF gives? Old Rag will be there later... we won't.. you're killing me...

My friend Bigfoot hasn't really done any cold weather backpacking. I didn't want to scare her off right away. She's really only been on one BP trip a "guided" trip at Glacier NP, i don't think it was very fun,it rained and she had rental gear which didn't fit right. I have to ease her back into it.... You'll see us on a spring trip for sure...

32oz, I'll be picking up the annual pass when I'm down there, so we may end up meeting in SNP yet

Well..... not exactly. Here's an excerpt from "WTF on the AFT" :

Near 8:30, Pennsyhiker, RichB and SirPete decide to show up. We hit the trail, with SirPete balbbering away about how he thought the Scarlett letter thread was BS on my part. Everybody was on edge, and the hike didn't start well. Like .5 miles into the hike Pennsy, totally ignoring a double balze, led us on a 2,000 feet downhill, when we should have been hiking a ridgeline. Little did we know, we were heading due east, instead of west, so finally RichB and I told him we were backtracking, so we wouldn't be lost.

That was partially true. I did miss the 1st turn of the day and we did go a long ways downhill, but not 2000' like that lyin sack of crap Buddha Bear said.

Wow, I can't believe that trip was 6 years ago. What a hoot that was.

11/24/08

Note to self.. Don't follow Pennsy
Note to self 2... Watch out for double balzes..
Note to self 3... Don't believe that lieing sack of crap Buddha Bear..

Man, you need a lot of mental stamina to hike with the PA Boneheads..LOL

Giant Teabag ?? Oh My !!
The 250-acre Black Moshannon Lake is fed by clear springs and small streams which flow through the bogs that stretch in most directions from its shores. As the clear water flows through sphagnum moss and other wetland plants, it becomes colored by plant tannins. In a sense, the bog vegetation acts like a giant teabag to color the water.

Jmitch, get better. We will hike this trail eventually. ;)

32oz, I'll resend in a little bit. Just walked in from shopping.

My friggin' car ain't right today. It's making me nervous. I need to think about this now, as when I stopped in to see my mechanic he gave me that pre-holiday-craziness look of desperation.

Spindle, if you can make it Northampton, you can go with me.. a little outta your way, but you'll have wheels... Take 512 to 329 west and you can avoid all of the mall BS..
We can head up the NE extension of the Turpike and hit 80 that way...

Is it called bailing if you are only signed-up as a maybe?

Or is that called side stepping?

Stoopid Benz is not a trailhead vehicle. It's a delicate flower that wilts at the sight of dirt.

It's the gayest car ever. I hate it.

We're bringing CP waffles, right?

Oh and ur pm'd.

i was in north carolina when it happened, whitewater kayaking. i then drove home yesterday, i drive a standard and had to shift with my left hand. for 9 1/2 hours. and with no radio since i couldn't turn it on. not fun.

but most of the nurses at the hospital were cute and they were awfully eager to get my "britches" off. that's another story.

so, no kayaking for the next several months. hope to get a lot of hiking in when my shoulder gets stronger.
