Operation Tent Garden
After a long time talking about it, my son and I finally did it! We set up our collection of surviving tents from the last 16 years of backpacking.

Front: Eureka Zephyr (old style), Mountain Hardware Waypoint 1, Sierra Designs Iota 1
Middle: Eureka Timberlite, REI Half Dome, MSR Fling, Coleman Exponent Inyo 2
Back: Eureka Geoalum, Sierra Designs Baku 3, Eureka Tetragon 9

Plenty of room for family when they visit!!

Here is another shot:

I feel so much better now about having only 3 tents. No, 4. No, 5. OK, 5 tents. (Not counting the one Mrs. big_load is getting rid of).

Cool stuff, all y'all.

Maybe I'll get inspired and set up all of my tents at once.

Wait...I do that every time I'm out...I only have one tent. No wonder I suck. ;)

nogranola:

Fling is a great tent, if you dont care to not have a vestibule. It has taken all sorts of weather no problem, It also breathes like no other single wall, never ever had a condensation problem. My only complain is no vestibule, that is really it.

Thanks everyone.

Love the pink tents!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks, Sass

We use the Baku 3 the most now for two people, but agree the Half Dome is the bomb. It has been to the Sierras, Canada, England, France and Spain.

They don't weigh much, are huge (3 person) and are total junk. But, they were free and we may use them once or twice a year. They were custom made for the 3 day walk. I think probably designed to be used once or twice.
I asked someone who participated in the walk this year how they performed. She told me hay were told to bring a shower curtain to lay over the fly!! I think maybe they might not be water proof. But, they were soaked with dew when I got them and the interiors were dry. So, I think we'll just have to be selective about when we use them.

Very Nice!
This is really bad for my husband to see. I got him to thinking we only need one tent at a time, lol.

Gee Phil, don't you get tired of the constant sunny days? Guess not :) We were just 60 degrees and sunny for a long time, but are now looking at days of rain.

I love your pictures, the colorful tents, the beautiful blue sky. I may need to rent out the movie "Sideways", a movie that took place in sunny CA wine country.
