$316,962 for ten or twenty hours of work a week is not bad scratch. It seems the reason they have not replaced her is that they are holding her job open for her.

When is Obama going to fulfill one campaign promise?

Earmarks - No
Fiscal responsibility - No
Bipartisanship - No
Ethics reform - No
End the war - No
Kill Bin Ladin - No
Accountability - No
Five Days for public comment on bills - No
Change - No
Lobbiest reform - No

He has broken every significant campaign promise.

You think this guy won the WH with a web site that took some money from little people that vote? Think again, he was a perfect setup by the ones that need more big government indebted beyond repair and sudsidized from countries that want the returned access to our consumer markets.

It won't work. The jungle growth has overwhelmed everything thing in it's path and will block the sun for generations until someone gets out the matches and starts some slash and burn tactics to government and the corporate world that is smothering us.

She was half-time, or 20 hours a week, until May 1, 2007, and thereafter worked about 10 hours a week until taking her unpaid leave this year.
[...]
In 2007 her part-time salary was $103,633, according to the Obamas’ 2007 tax return.

And everyone cries about CEOs? Rich, privileged and elite only count if they are non-progressive.

Until quite recently you'd have a hard time finding a CEO who'd show up to a job for that pissant amount. These guys haul in (or did) 5, 10, 20 mil.

Don't the Repubs whine that a quarter million/year a year is Middle Class?

The difference is that in general CEOs are talented people (whether that talent is molded by scruples is another issue) in a position that few people have the ability to do, and they are rightly and justly compensated for their rare attributes.

Those who "can't" work 10 hours a week at a token job born of graft and political favors.

Mutt, are reveling in fiscal dreamland? CEOs aren't necessarily some sort of automatic brainchild. Cronyism is what propels many CEOs into their positions, promoting inadequate leadership as exemplified by the constant stream of business collapses we're seeing all over the country. GM had it going on?

Your joking aren't you? You've never dealt with many of these people have you?

Sure there's a handful ones out there - most are pedestrian at best and not significantly more talented than the many of the people that work for them.

It's all part of the myth that's been created by those who have been eating away at America's core.... and the sheep like Mutt who lap up their BS.

Short of the true visionaries there's almost no CEOs who earn their vastly inflated compensation packages on merit.

WASHINGTON - A D.C. Office of the Chief Technology Officer employee and a government contractor have been arrested in a federal bribery sting, sources tell WTOP.

"I don't think things are ever as good as they say, or ever as bad as they say," he added. "Things two years ago were not as good as we thought because there were a lot of underlying weaknesses in the economy. They're not as bad as we think they are now."

Today's word is HYPOCRITE

While publicly identifying with the nation's have-nots, the Obama administration has been cultivating the Beltway social elite behind the scenes.

Earlier this year, the Obama administration invited top editors of three of Washington's local luxury lifestyle magazines — Capitol File, DC magazine and Washington Life — to a meeting where they discussed, among other things, how President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama can embrace Washington's glittery social scene.

LOL..gonna try and get that Beltway love.

I am just wondering if one person on the staff has said..."HEY S-F-B..you are the PRESIDENT...not some "goof come to Washington"

I wonder if there really is a turnip truck that has lost its load?

I highjack this thread with a backpacking question:

How do you clean your nalgene bottles?
I have a nalgene bottle at my bed side. Every evening I fill it with fresh water, so that I have to drink during the night. Next evening I throw away what is left, rinse the bottle out and fill it with fresh water. Now I have noticed that the water gets a bit of a smell. I have already cleaned the bottle with water and soap, but it doesn't seem to do it - at least not for long.

President Obama is considering a request by Gov. Rick Perry of Texas to deploy National Guard troops along the southern border to stop a devastating wave of violence from spilling into this country from Mexico.

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/14/us/politics/14border.html

Mexico is collapsing - this is a golden opportunity for Obama to start showing the world he's not a complete pushover. Frankly I'd like to see us carry out a series of targeted strikes against the cartels in our Near Abroad to show the Russians up, but that's too much to hope for.

backwash? I guess you mean the fresh water gets contaminated from the water that previously has been in the bottle?

No, he means the water that was previously in your mouth - at least that's what backwash means.

A little bleach residue won't harm you. In fact, it's used to purify water onboard ship.

Try bleach on that also, but don't ever use the military for what the constitution intended it to be used for.

Backwash is okay and inevitable. No one (usually) dies from their own cooties. Living alone, I drink straight from the milk bottle. Saves on dishes. My son, now that he lives with me, is concerned about this to the point of backwash paranois. I've stopped...for the time being.
