It truly is amazing how you can mix the long term effects of alchohol abuse with a total and complete denial of reality. The really scary thing is when you see some of the stuff we have had to work on. And the MONEY some of these "liberals" are willing to plunk down to be "protected" is a hoot.” 8:32:08 AM 5/13/09 “Mutt, The collaborative nature of your response is inspiring. I have a clear understanding of your life being so filled with negativity that you constantly criticize things for which you practice contempt prior to investigation. Do you have anything positive to add? Breton and Largent based the starting point for their research on the recovery model provided by AA. AA was formed in 1935 or so. Apparently its early spiritual beliefs used Catholic and Protestant spiritual traditions as a starting point. There is nothing about this “recovery model” that suggests an adherence to Christianity, although, it took its starting point from there probably because of the perspective of its “founders.” Since then the AA recovery model has been successful in a number of countries throughout the world. Many of these countries don’t adhere to Christian beliefs nor do their spiritual beliefs center on a “God” as we think of a “God” from a western perspective. That is but one source for this book. The authors borrow from Buddhism, American India, Hindu, Confucius, Sufism, and other sources of spirituality. In your quest for a Mutt-Centered universe you may have had a chance to reject them all. Meanwhile “New Age” spirituality wasn’t “founded” until the 1960s in England and the 1970s in the U.S. Comparing this book to “New Age” spirituality is an ignorant viewpoint derived from contempt prior to investigation. Think quick! So, now that your logic premise has failed, Mutt, it’s time for you to take a new tact. Act now! Reorganize your position around something with more substance. Mutt, I’ve seen you angrily denounce any and all spiritual beliefs before. It would be interesting to know exactly where this anger stems from but it really wouldn’t do any good for either of us. You want to be angry about spirituality and I can’t fix you. Do you have any positive paths that you follow in life? Or does it take all your energy just to denounce what you don’t believe in?” 8:48:22 AM 5/13/09 “Arc..the really sad thing about the perception of a Higher Power in AA is that there really is only ONE Higher Power that seeks to make you better as you adhere more to its principles.” 9:03:01 AM 5/13/09 “Since then the AA recovery model has been successful in a number of countries throughout the world. LMAO - the success rate of AA is hardly distinguishable from chance, and you're using that as support for the authors' contrived arguments? Talk about your failed logical premise. Hello, McFly? I had to look it up, but the book was published in the 90's. And even if it had been written in the 1890's, it's still new age junk spirituality, even though that term may not have been in the popular lexicon at that point in time. A spade is a spade. Besides, taking only the feel-good attributes of various traditional religions is the banal sine qua non of new-age junk spirituality. You want to be angry about spirituality and I can’t fix you. You're confusing anger for disgust. You're not practicing spirituality - you're just engaging in a particularly smarmy form of elitist pattern maintenance; drawing lines between yourself and das Gesindel, as I said above.” 9:18:16 AM 5/13/09 “Nope, nothing to see here by the collaborative nature of your responses. Move along. Mutt maybe there is nothing to learn by discussion. And maybe there is nothing to learn by reading. However, you constantly criticize any form of spirituality without offering an alternative. Is that due to your belief in Oblectivism or something to do with deeper resentments? That’s an elephant you may wish to acknowledge. People, and you’re just the latest example, make bad logic arguments and then continue discussions as if nothing has happened or disappear from conversations altogether. That’s an interesting elephant. Many people, and you’re just the latest example, use constant put-downs, insults, and slap-fights, in order to make opposing viewpoints appear worthless. Many people would rather ignore opposing opinion rather than have a collaborative discussion on the different ways those opposing viewpoints are reached. Many people don’t acknowledge that they could learn something by reading a variety of subject matter. Many people don’t acknowledge a personal responsibility to become better voters through continuing their education by reading a variety of subject matter. Many people don’t acknowledge the collaborative service they could provide to others by suggesting reading matter they find personally interesting. Many people ignore the benefits of reading books and instead would rather watch and read biased news in order to justify their current views. Or maybe they enjoy the proliferation of dysfunctional reality shows on TV that seem to make their lives less dysfunctional as they laugh at others. Nope, nothing to learn here … move along.” 9:25:54 AM 5/13/09 “People, and you’re just the latest example, make bad logic arguments and then continue discussions as if nothing has happened or disappear from conversations altogether. You're the one making arguments deficient in logic, as I've clearly pointed out. Your response is either to toss out red herrings or non sequiturs, or play the persecution card. If you really were on a path to genuine spiritual enlightenment, then I would applaud you. But you're not. You have less than spiritual ulterior motives. This is one of those cases where it really is that simple.” 9:32:18 AM 5/13/09 “..the really sad thing about the perception of a Higher Power in AA is that there really is only ONE Higher Power that seeks to make you better as you adhere more to its principles.” theXL400 10:03:01 AM 5/13/09 Hey, maybe we should call you Al Coholic instead of EXlax.” 9:42:44 AM 5/13/09 “Mutt, so your logic argument for continuing your previously false logic argument that The Pardigm Conspiracy is “New Age” spirituality is because it was published in the 90s? Now I’m fascinated to see exactly how much illogic can you heap on your previous illogic in order to make a point. A search of the internet will reveal a large number of books written about the Christian search for spirituality, the Islamic search for spirituality, the Buddhist search for spirituality, … all written since the 60s and 70s. It appears that, by your logic, that makes them all “New Age.” And then you say: and you're using that as support for the authors' contrived arguments? But I am supporting nothing here. I am merely posting quotes in the service that someone else might find this book as interesting as do I. Contrived arguments? And that comes from your reading of this book and making an informed decision as opposed to a partial critique based on contempt prior to investigation? There is a HUGE unacknowledged elephant here. Maybe you could learn something about your own thinking patterns by reading some books that have been recommended by others. Maybe you could learn why you feel a constant need to lash out. Nope? Well then … let’s just move on. last edited: 5/13/09 9:03:38 AM” 9:45:02 AM 5/13/09 “Nobody's gwine up to Hebbin' lesson they believe in XLax's god. Another surprise, eh Muttley?” 9:47:28 AM 5/13/09 “Poor t*ltypoo does adore his Obamessiah.” 9:49:40 AM 5/13/09 “It appears that, by your logic, that makes them all “New Age.” Non-sequitur, right on cue. constant need to lash out. And the persecution complex, too - LOL. You don't disappoint, arclite.” 10:01:38 AM 5/13/09 “Good grief, Tilt. It's "be-leeb"....” 10:07:40 AM 5/13/09 “Sorry --- I've been reading that dog stuff.” 10:13:43 AM 5/13/09 “Neither do you, Mutt.” 10:26:09 AM 5/13/09 “Once again Tilty....PrezBO is NOT the Messiah.... The Messiah was a Carpenter...he could assemble a cabinet in 100 days.” 11:30:04 AM 5/13/09 “...PrezBO is NOT the Messiah.... Al Coholic For once.............the truth!!” 11:39:47 AM 5/13/09 “Man, and here I thought YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH, MarkO. I was mistaken. Gee, that was easy to say.” 11:45:52 AM 5/13/09 “Arclight....LushO's words said no no no...but his mind says "Yes Yes Yes!!!'” 11:53:34 AM 5/13/09 “Perhaps you need a drink to brace yourself, Al. The only people I know of who think Obama is a "messiah" are some of you neo-conman kooks.” 11:59:34 AM 5/13/09 And once again LushO is wrong. “""No one saw him coming, and Christians believe God comes at us from strange angles and places we don't expect, like Jesus being born in a manger." --Lawrence Carter "Many even see in Obama a messiah-like figure, a great soul, and some affectionately call him Mahatma Obama." -- Dinesh Sharma "We just like to say his name. We are considering taking it as a mantra." -- Chicago] Sun-Times "A Lightworker -- An Attuned Being with Powerful Luminosity and High-Vibration Integrity who will actually help usher in a New Way of Being" -- Mark Morford "What Barack Obama has accomplished is the single most extraordinary event that has occurred in the 232 years of the nations political history" -- Jesse Jackson, Jr. "This was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal." -- Barack Obama "Does it not feel as if some special hand is guiding Obama on his journey, I mean, as he has said, the utter improbability of it all?" -- Daily Kos "He communicates God-like energy..." -- Steve Davis (Charleston, SC) "Not just an ordinary human being but indeed an Advanced Soul" -- Commentator @ Chicago Sun Times "I'll do whatever he says to do. I'll collect paper cups off the ground to make his pathway clear." -- Halle Berry "A quantum leap in American consciousness" -- Deepak Chopra "He is not operating on the same plane as ordinary politicians. . . . the agent of transformation in an age of revolution, as a figure uniquely qualified to open the door to the 21st century." -- Gary Hart "Barack Obama is our collective representation of our purest hopes, our highest visions and our deepest knowings . . . He's our product out of the all-knowing quantum field of intelligence." -- Eve Konstantine "This is bigger than Kennedy. . . . This is the New Testament." | "I felt this thrill going up my leg. I mean, I don't have that too often. No, seriously. It's a dramatic event." -- Chris Matthews "[Obama is ] creative imagination which coupled with brilliance equals wisdom . . . [He is] the man for this time." -- Toni Morrison "Obama's finest speeches do not excite. They do not inform. They don't even really inspire. They elevate. . . . He is not the Word made flesh, but the triumph of word over flesh . . . Obama is, at his best, able to call us back to our highest selves." -- Ezra Klein "Obama has the capacity to summon heroic forces from the spiritual depths of ordinary citizens and to unleash therefrom a symphonic chorus of unique creative acts whose common purpose is to tame the soul and alleviate the great challenges facing mankind." -- Gerald Campbell "We're here to evolve to a higher plane . . . he is an evolved leader . . . [he] has an ear for eloquence and a Tongue dipped in the Unvarnished Truth." -- Oprah Winfrey I would characterize the Senate race as being a race where Obama was, lets say, blessed and highly favored. Thats not routine. Theres something else going on. I think that Obama, his election to the Senate, was divinely ordered. . . . I think so. http://video.search.yahoo.com/video/play?p=broke+trek&ei=utf-8&fr=slv8-wave&tnr=21&vid=000168249142 So the PrezBO has run up a deficit 4 TIMES HIGHER THAN PREVIOUSLY EVER IMAGINED...and now May 14 (Bloomberg) -- President Barack Obama, calling current deficit spending unsustainable, warned of skyrocketing interest rates for consumers if the U.S. continues to finance government by borrowing from other countries. We cant keep on just borrowing from China, Obama said at a town-hall meeting in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, outside Albuquerque. We have to pay interest on that debt, and that means we are mortgaging our childrens future with more and more debt. Holders of U.S. debt will eventually get tired of buying it, causing interest rates on everything from auto loans to home mortgages to increase, Obama said. It will have a dampening effect on our economy. IMAGINE!!!!????? Its obvious either he thinks that the rest of the nation will buy the "situational history revision" (i.e. things can change from day to day if he says they do) or he is a full out blithering idiot.” 6:09:38 AM 5/15/09 “nothing like saying "hey, look what i did".” 6:53:33 AM 5/15/09 “Well, for the benefit of those in total denial, the only way to increase "taxes" efficiently is to let business create money. That means get government control off their tails so that they can produce and sell and increase the economy.” 6:55:28 AM 5/15/09 “Talk about total denial! #&%!$ing #&%!$!
