"Because this has been ratcheting up and I obviously helped to contribute ratcheting it up, I wanted to make clear in my choice of words I think I unfortunately gave an impression that I was maligning the Cambridge Police Department or Sgt. Crowley specifically," Obama said. "And I could have calibrated those words differently." - Pres Obama

i am not a big obama basher, but i gotta tell you he has a way with words. "could have calibrated those words differently"? wtf does that mean?

then, self righteously, he goes off and says:

he hoped the event would end up being a "teachable moment, where all of us instead of pumping up the volume spend a little more time listening to each other" and improve race relations "instead of flinging accusations."

"teachable moment"? wtf is that?

i am beginning to think even he is starting to believe his #&%!$ doesn't stink. in this case the cover up is worse the the crime, imo.

...NOT impressive, mr president.

Cheney, Dick doesn't think his war crimes stink.

I was just listening to accounts of how he continued to work on Duh-bya to pardon Libbie right up until they left office. It must've been like that episode of the Twilight Zone where Cliff Robertson is arguing with the ventriloquist dummy.

my bet is that he now plays the, "see i am a big man who can admit when i am wrong" card, forgetting that it's OK to make mistakes but that doesn't mean you don't have to pay for them. he claims to be big enough to admit he contributed to the stink but not big enough to apologize for his role. this guy is an illinois politician to the core.

The Professor who failed his entire class

An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had once failed an entire class.

That class had insisted that Obama’s socialism worked and that if enacted, no one would be poor and no one would be rich. It would be a great equalizer.

The professor then said, “OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama’s plan.”

The Professor decided that all grades would be averaged together and everyone would receive the same grade.

After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone received a B.

The students who studied hard were upset, but the students who studied little were happy.

As a result of the averaged grade, both the students who studied hard as well as the students who studied little decided to study even less for the second exam.

The average score this time was a D and no one was happy.

When the 3rd exam rolled around, the average score was an F.

The scores never increased and students blamed each other for the overall poor performance of the class. No one wanted to study hard for the benefit of another student.

To their great surprise, all students failed the course. The professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great, but when the government takes all of the reward away, no one will try hard or want to succeed.

Yawl still think even though a landslide elected prez can't get anywhere against the corporate rulers of our so called democracy, that the rest of the world should still worship us in awe of our freedoms. The Obama voters will, well, have to some extent, learn(ed) the same that Bush voters learned in the last eight years, elected officials are actors and have no control over the corp board rooms that grew them with consumers spent money or lobby bucks as we know them.

Conservatives Now Outnumber Liberals Almost Two to One in America, According to Washington Post Poll
Friday, July 24, 2009
By Terence P. Jeffrey, Editor-in-Chief

(CNSNews.com) - Americans who consider themselves conservatives now outnumber Americans who consider themselves liberal by almost two to one, according to a new poll by the Washington Post and ABC News.

In the poll of 1,001 adults conducted between July 15-18, respondents were asked: “Would you say your views on most political matters are liberal, moderate, or conservative?”

Thirty-eight percent said they were conservative, while only 20% said they were liberal. Thirty-nine percent, meanwhile, said they were moderate.

The percentage of self-described conservatives has increased since President Barack Obama was inaugurated in January and the percentage of self-described liberals has diminished. A Washington Post poll conducted in mid-January, shortly before the inauguration, showed 32% saying they were conservative, 24% saying they were liberal and 42% saying they were moderates.

The poll’s margin of error is +/- 3 points.

A Post poll done in late March also had 38% of respondents describing themselves as conservatives, but the percentage of conservatives dipped to 35% in an April poll and 36% in a June poll.

The highest percentage that conservatives have achieved in this poll since the beginning of the 2008 presidential election cycle (in January 2007) was 39%. That came in a September 2007 poll, several months before the first 2008 presidential primaries.

The highest percentage that liberals achieved in this poll during the same time frame was 25%, a mark they hit in both February 2008, in the midst of the presidential primaries, and July 2007.

Strat the sad thing is a lot of the ones who keep swinging this way and that is the reason the "pablum" candidates (like GW and McShame) get elected is that these "fair weather conservatives" are really more moderates...remember Moderate means not having the guts to admit you are a liberal.

From Jim Cramer's 'Mad Money' 07/28/2009 CNBC

If we want to stop hemorrhaging jobs, and perhaps start creating them again… then I will tell you want we need to do… and I can tell you that this is not a plan that you have heard of or will hear anywhere else…

First, we need to create a network of natural gas pipelines and subsidize natural gas cars… that will put millions of people to work… and because natural gas is so much cleaner, so much cleaner than burning oil… it would postpone the need for cap-n-trade and CO2 rules that will just crush job creation… for some reason, no one in Washington wants to embrace natural gas… yes, they do think that it is silent but deadly… in fact, though, it is the best transition fuel that we have… hey by the way, we have got a lot of it… we used to say that we were the Saudi Arabia of coal… of course, that is like being the Saudi Arabia of black lung, or the Saudi Arabia of pollution… with the discoveries of the last few years, we are now the Saudi Arabia of natural gas.. why don’t we subsidize natural gas drilling… why don’t we build roads to drilling sights… they all need them… we can make it easy for people to buy cars that run on natural gas… or convert their current ones… we are doing cars for klunkers… so who don’t we do natural gas cars… and not only will we have transition to cheaper, greener fuel… but we will have also created good jobs for millions of Americans.

Second point, and this one should be a no brainer… we actually should built new infrastructure… the government should built new sewers, new aqua-ducts, we should lengthen airport runways…we should rebuild every darn bridge in this country that is older, in order to replace the aging infrastructure… that is a sure fire job creator… please start with the plexi skyway that I take in every day… that is poster boy for what is needed.

Third, you want to deal with healthcare… fine, I have got it… one simple idea… you create three national competing healthcare providers and subsidize them so companies can afford to hire more cheaply… between the competition and the subsidizes, business will not have to commit to paying benefit packages… something that currently makes it difficult to hire new workers.. because workers are so expensive.

Fourth, we should bring back all of our superfluous troops in Germany, South Korea, Japan… and downsize all of our bases in those countries… we do not need troops in Germany… the Cold War has been over for almost twenty years… we need those troops here… because they know how to lead all of the infrastructure projects that I am proposing… the Army Corps of Engineers lives for this stuff… let’s actually put them to work doing something useful.

Fifth, the government should pay a bounty… that is right, should pay businesses a bounty every time businesses hire someone… right now businesses think ten times before they hire a single worker… and they do not give a thought to firing thousands of people… but a bounty for hiring would change that equation.

Sixth, if we really want to go crazy creating jobs, and also energy independence… why don’t we just stick a solar panel on every house in the country… I mean, who cares that they are hideous… that is serious stimulus that could create both jobs and clean energy.

Number seven, another no-brainer… we should build high speed trains from Maine to Miami… from New York to Chicago… all along the West Coast… and with a transcontinental high speed rail line to boot… practically every other developed country has this… and some less developed countries… it would require a gigantic number of workers… and would make traveling a heck of lot easier… and a heck of lot of cleaner… as trains generate a whole lot less pollution than cars or airplanes.

Finally, number eight, if we want to start creating jobs and stop losing them… Washington needs to eliminate any talk of card check unionization and forced arbitration… the specter of which is making it incredibly harder for businesses to hire… no company wants to take on workers with this collective bargaining sort of domiciles hanging over its head… so let’s get rid of it… or at least until the economy is booming again… and then we can afford to take the hit… we can’t right now.

â–Ľ â–Ľ â–Ľ â–Ľ â–Ľ

The Bottom Line!: Here is the bottom line… that is the manifesto for bringing jobs and profits back to the United States… capitalists of America unite… you have nothing to lose but your jobs, your earnings, and your homes… so get to it.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Thursday shows that 28% of the nation's voters now Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty percent (40%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -12. That’s the lowest rating yet recorded for President Obama (see trends).
