Whoa, he definately went overboard on the chocolate thread. That's okay Spinny. We will get him back on the AFT trip, like we can haul in some Fat Dog Imperial Oatmeal Stout and not let him have a drop. That'll show him!

SHOT GLASS! lol @ mapes

My first year of college we would to get together thursday afternoons and decide what to do..

the progression was:

lets get a couple of cases..
ah heck for a couple bucks more lets get a beer ball..
ah heck... etc etc..
next thing you know we were buying a keg..

I only lasted 1 year in that college...

I'm hoping to get up there..

If I do its going to be very late on Friday night... I would say it's about a 30% chance right now..

I'll be hiking the 2 weekends before and the 3 weekends after, so I'm pushing my luck to get away for this one.

Got my trip figured out. For the profile the miles are probably about where I like them. You like to hike like a mad man.....I think you stash a jetpack in you pack.

Saturday - Drive from home. Shuttle car. 5 miles to Paul Wolfe Shelter

Sunday - 15.5 miles to Maupin Field Shelter

Monday - 9 miles to Camp near Tye River (get ready for The Priest)

Tuesday - 11.5 miles to Seely-woodworth Shelter

Wednesday - 9 miles to Hog Camp Gap. Meet up with Creek Dancer. Shuttle cars and hike a couple of miles to Cow Camp Gap Shelter.

Thursday - 15 miles to Punchbowl Shelter

Friday - 9 miles to Johns Hollow Shelter

Saturday - Hike out to Glasgow. Shuttle cars, get some real food.

My trip didnt go quite like I wanted it to. I ended up with a cold and by the time I got to Hog Camp Gap I felt pretty bad. That and thunderstorms coming in made the decision to get off the trail easy. I did Three Ridges and The Priest the same day, that was pretty tough.

Right before the Seely-Woodworth Shelter I saw a mother bear with two tiny cubs. They were really small, they were too fast and took off over a hill before I could get the camera out.

How are your feet doing?

Sorry, to hear about having to get off of the trail... Yeah the Tye River area is pretty tough.. My first back packing trip was up 3 ridges from 56. I halfway up a severe thunderstorm came through.. lightening everywhere.. that was my welcome to back packing

'32oz
Feet are doing better, still have the remnants of blisters, but it will be a low mileage week so I will have a little more time to heal...

Where did you have to stop?

I stopped at hog camp gap. So I was only two days from finishing. It was probably for the best. Hiking in the rain while already sick isn't good. I am definitely doing better than I did in april.

I just used my last bit of vacation time for this trip. Not sure when I will be doing another trip.

I got a good picture of the memorial bench at the Paul Wolfe Shelter. How did they get that there? I cant see those heavy pieces being carried that far.

Remember Lightfoot from the Fontana Dam trip? He hauled them there.. I swear... Him and two other guys... they used a dollie.. there are some pictures floating around somewhere..

Are the steps fixed on the shelter yet?
