You're welcome to explain how Bush is conservative, y2, if you can.

From the horse's mouth (or the other end of the horse, as the case may be):

SCOTT LINDLAW, Associated Press Writer
AP Worldstream
03-11-2004
Dateline: WASHINGTON
President George W. Bush told evangelical Christians what they wanted to hear Thursday, ticking off highlights of his "compassionate conservative" agenda, from halting late-term abortions to banning gay marriage.

Evangelical Christians represent a core constituency for the president, who strongly backed him in the 2000 election. He opened his address via satellite to the National Association of Evangelicals Convention in Colorado by lavishing praise on the group: "You're doing God's work with conviction and kindness," Bush said.

Pretty selective there, huh Geo, in taking Bush at his word? so, him telling OTHERS they're doing "God's work" makes his policies conservative?

So anyone else want to try to ansWer the question?

Sure

Tax Cuts for wealthy and businesses.
Total belief in free markets.
Modest roll back of anti-abortion
Push to take social security into private sector.
Appointment of conservative judges
Rollback of legislation by law and a lack of enforcement
Ignoring issues of global warming
Hawkish foreign policy.
Pandering to religious conservatives.

The only reason he hasn't gone further is that he's been faced with reality and a lack of desire of the voter to take America on the extreme course 'conservatives' advocate.

He doesn't suddenly stop becoming a conservative when he's a failure.

It's like saying Bill Clinton wasn't liberal because he failied to push healthcare reform through.

All you're doing is coming up with a bunch of excuses that allow you to pretend conservatism policies haven't been an abject failure.

It's like Ped pointed out earlier - there are many communists who say communism didn't fail, but that it was never applied as it needed to be - on a global scale.

Frankly they have more credibility than those trying to claim the Bush administration wasn't conservative.

"For the last 40-plus years we had a 'Southern Strategy' that alienated many minority voters by focusing on the white male vote in the South."

A political party that tried to get voters to NOT vote for them? Yeah, right.

No dopey - the Chairman of the party is talking about the strategy to win elections by appealing to the racial attitudes of Southern whites post Jim Crow.

Turns out that when Johnson said that the Democratic party had lost the south for a generation (as a result of the Civil Rights Act), he was being wildly optimistic.

Wait a cotton pickin' minute here! You mean a party was pandering to a racial group for votes? No fvcking way! Dirty conservatives! I bet the liberals never did that, huh?

Sheep.

Imagine pandering for votes on an unwanted, UNCONSTITUTIONAL bill. That would be messed up.

Thank goodness we've had Democrats/liberals looking out for the minority voters for the past 40 years---I mean look how the Big D has lifted them out of malaise and dependency and steered them into prosperity. Salute!

Yeah Noncon, ... We all KNOW that the more you give free stuff to people, the more they will be willing and able to pull themselves out of poverty. I mean, it's just common sense!

They haven't really been able to help them because they've been blocked by Republicans and conservatives at every turn!

Technically since Reagan left office True conservatisism has only been tried in 1994-1996. After that it was shoved aside by the blue blood Republicracts (Michael Steele is a typical one).
