Valley Glen, Los AngelesView MessagesViewing posts 1 to 8 of 8 messages posted.
“One of my sons is talking about moving to LA with his girl friend. He's applied to Los Angeles Valley College and is talking about moving to Valley Glen. What's that neighborhood like? Are there better places that he could commute from on the Orange line. I suppose I care most about safe and affordable, since I'll probably be writing some checks.” 1:48:09 PM 11/25/08 “Affordable? Ha! This is CA and SoCal. Mark everything up about 30-40% from what you are probably paying now. I can't talk about the area with any authority. I do have a friend that lives in Orange, which is close to where Phil lives. Pretty nice and quiet suburban town.” 1:53:32 PM 11/25/08 “Rents here are nuts... so affordable to me isn't what it is to some. But, the cheaper the better.” 2:08:01 PM 11/25/08 “Valley Glen is a relatively okay area for the general vicinity, but there are a lot better. My friend lived in Valley Glen for about six months and had his apartment broken into once, and his car twice. But really, it varies from neighborhood to neighborhood and as long as he moves into a gated apartment complex he should be okay. About the same distance from L.A. but infinitely better is Santa Monica. It's more expensive (actually, a lot more), but it's so much nicer. West Hollywood isn't bad either - a little dirty, but relatively safe. Also, there are some good parts of Pasadena - and that's about as far away. So, in short, Valley Glen is better than a lot of places in the area... but there area also a lot better places than Valley Glen” 3:18:54 PM 11/25/08 “I rebuilt a house there five years ago which was two doors from Liberace's house in the late 50's. Everyone that I say and met reminded me of Liberace.” 5:16:17 PM 11/25/08 “I live on the other side of Los Angeles in Orange County. Not sure what the neighborhood is like, but in general the San Fernando Valley is probably considered safer than Los Angeles. Good luck to them!!!” 7:35:11 PM 11/25/08 “Thanks for the info.” 7:06:53 PM 11/27/08 “how many of us are in CA?” 10:11:45 PM 11/27/08
