Overnight hike near Burlington, VTView MessagesViewing posts 1 to 7 of 7 messages posted.
Looking for Hike near Burlington, VT “Looking for overnight hike not too far outside of Burlington, VT. Perhaps near Smugs or Stowe. I am looking to do some winter camping and want something that does not require too far of a hike in (maybe 1-2 miles max). Any ideas?” 7:37:06 PM 12/02/08 “I remebered this website I checked out once looking for hikes. hope this helps. http://www.localhikes.com/MSA/MSA_1303.asp” 6:03:46 AM 12/03/08 “What about the Roundtop Shelter on the LT outside of Johnson? Nice open shelter with great views behind the shelter.” 6:45:43 AM 12/03/08 “Roundtop Shelter is definitely a nice place - less than a mile from Plot Road. I'm not sure how the parking would be there in the Winter. But there are other access points as well. Another possibility is to take Route 2 to Jonesville and you can hike the LT in either direction. Either south from the Duxbury Road trail head or North from the trailhead just North of the Jonesville Bridge. There is a shelter about a mile in (Duck Brook) and some flat areas for camping before and after the shelter.” 7:31:16 AM 12/03/08 “I want to go :( who wants to drive me?” 7:32:10 AM 12/03/08 “Don't miss Camels Hump, great hike.” 8:44:08 AM 12/03/08 “Sounds good--I will have a look. Camels Hump State park and the LT in that area sounds good.” 9:15:50 AM 12/04/08
