NOW you've done it!...offending a Turkish National is a prison offense....ever see Midnight Express?.....

Sorry there Bayrams, but my 6 months in a turkish jail make me very leery of going back......especially since I was retried in absentia and sentenced to a VERY long term.....Have I mentioned how nice it was of your Askeri to shoot me 3 TIMES...? Yeah, I was wearing a vest with Ballistic Plate, but it still hurt like HELL.

Oops, let's not forget the US State Departments shall we say, anger and embarrassment, over begging for my release because you see; it was the Sec Def that sent me into that Nike Herc site during the War over Cyprus......(Can't you Turks and Greeks just all get along...?).

Ah, the memories..BO on the crowded trains, the ragged sports coats and worn out shoes, such FASHION!.....Suicidal drivers competing 6 abreast for a bit of road to pass on, going uphill around those curves in the road just outside Yesilkoy...but I digress......

DayHiker, a close friend gained a three year term because he and 2 other GI's got on an elevator in the Hilton Hotel in Istanbul; he stepped out of the elevator and said to his friends, "I'm to SHORT to ride with you turkies!"...(he was due to PCS to ETS in three days.....) well the Turkish gentleman on the elevator at the time took offense and reported it......

Hell of a way to get extended involuntarily........
