I want to hike through Mt Mitchell State Park, traversing the hi-points. Anybody know about the snow cover up there now?

I've got snow shoes, but don't think it'll help if the snow is new.

Thanks

The parkway is closed between Asheville and Mitchell, the mountain is accessible from the north, via NC 80. Looks to be very cold Sunday night. Have fun

I've done the high points and I wouldn't attempt it in snowshoes!

How many of the highpoints do you plan to summit? Over how much time? You won't need snowshoes but certain areas can be damn icy (between Cattail Pk and Balsam Cone, Mt Mitchell tr from RR grade to summit,up Big Tom/Craig.)Snowshoes don't really help b/c so up and down.

I'll take the crampons then. I've got about 10 - 11 days out.

I'm leaving 2morow
I'll visit my brother and then head out.

One thing tho, are there any creeks that I pass by that I can fire up a brew by? ... any running water? If so I'll leave my water filter at home.

Thanks
