“THE PLAN

Friday night, camp at New Chapel trailhead, on the north side of the road, before the trail goes uphill. Saturday morning, break camp and go north on the trail. I want to make it at least as far as Leota trailhead, but I would prefer we make it to Lino road (halfway between miles 26 & 27). That would make just short of 10 miles on Saturday, and about 5 miles on Sunday.

If I have time, I'm going to go down early on Friday and scout the area around Lino for a place to camp, and the water situation. I will definitely cache some water somewhere, either Lino or Leota. Let me know if you want to join me for that. Also, let me know if you cannot make it until Saturday morn.

Windigrrl, no sleds. Meangreen, we're not doing 35 miles on Saturday, I don't care how much you beg. Jerbear, happy birthday. Hard, if you're not a troll, will you marry me?

Words cannot express my rapture. We gotta new President and he is buying all the Department Chairs Brunch followed by an overview of his new green initiative for the college. No way I can get outta this one!!

I am going to fly back to Chicago and drive down from OHare. My plane gets in around 5 so I will be rolling in late. Anyone is welcome to a ride with me but I have no flexibility as to when I leave Chicago due to my business travel on Friday.

“Heading South for Mardi Gras in New Orleans! Followed by a couple weeks on the road, I don't have to be back to work until mid March.

I just heard that the Hoosier Hikers Council has got the land to extend the trial to 140miles! not sure of the directions their goin, but they mentioned it will connect to an existing HNF trail on Fork Ridge,(not sure where thats at).”

“it is my understanding that most of the connector trail is built. some of it is road-walking, and part of it uses existing trail. i guess there is one or two more sections of land needed to be purchased and built on”

“Thats great news Attila! They have been trying to connect it to the Tecumseh trail for years, but couldn't get it done. I'll have to see if the HHC web site has any more info. We may be able to hike from Bloomington all the way to the Ohio River before you know it.”

“why stop there. right now, you can walk the monon trail from westfield to 38th street in indianapolis. not that anyone would want to...

then extend the monon down to morgan-monroe, and youd have a sweet supertrail!
