I told them that as we were fly down the road sideways the only thought in my mind was, "Huh, I'm going to die. I always thought it'd be Crash that did it.".

LMFAO!!!
Nigal, phuk you!
I am still proud of the way I saved that slide. That was one that needed to be on ESPN. Car sideways, tires chirping.... me - "Oh #&%!$, that was crazy" Nigal in the back counting his rosaries... beautiful. LOL! Hey what's a butt kicker in the cold with out a bit of blood thinner? We ONLY hiked 12 miles! Ya buncha puzzies!

Simer, I'm realy bummed that I didn't get to meet you. I was realy looking forward to it.

Yogi, so sorry we bolted from the TH. I didn't know you were right there. I thought you guys were miles behind Nigal.

Another memorable trip under the belt... If only I could remember half of it. HA! Thanks to all who showed, and made this what it was. It was realy nice to get out with some old friends.

good timing
I sit here on Sat. 2/21 & realize just how lucky we were on the weather, as we got another sloppy 3" of snow today. I had a great time, enjoyed meeting some new folks & even enjoyed being with the old ones.

BTW, I just finished a 14 Mile Trail run at Ceasar Creek Park near Springboro, Ohio, and I'm toast. It was very tough going, but I just kept thinking how lucky we were that I was not running down the KT. Now that would be a trail race.

Hope to see everyone throughout the year!

quilt
Thanks Jimmy. Needless to say I had a strong case of quilt envy, as I shivered thru the night & you were toasty. I'm doing further research on the whole matter, and if I need a test run, I'll let you know. Thanks for the offer. See you down the trail...

Cheers all! Again, thanks for the hike - as I sit here in NOLA only 2 days from Mardi Gras! Party on!

So what makes the under quilt so unique or specialized? Is it just a quilt or does it have super properties? Could you find a cheaper bag and simply make one?

I think the key thing about a under quilt is that it's not compressed under the body. The ones I've seen go under the hammock and fits closely to it. Is that correct?

quilts
I could guess all day about the what & why, but you would be better served to check out JacksRbetter for an overview of the various quilts, etc. Also, check out Hammock Forums, they are full of good info. All I know is I was cold & Jimmisan was not!

the jacksrbetter quilts are -made- for the hennesey hammocks. all the tabs/straps/etc are sewn so it all clips together for a perfect fit. if you want a quilt for underneath a hammock look at the models with the "split" where the opening in the hammock is. my underquilt doesn't have that because i use it in late spring/summer/early fall as a stand-alone quilt.

btw, nigal, i see no reason why you could not make an underquilt out of a sleeping bag, etc. people have made them before. a little careful measuring to get the hang points is all that is required. in the end the jrb quilt is a rectangle with traps sewn in the corners/sides and draw-strings on either end(to bunch up the quilt at the head/feet.
