Does anyone have any idea as what time they will be getting there on Friday. That first campsite off from Sycamore may end up having someone already there. I am hoping to get out of work early, but don't know if I can yet. We might want to pick a backup site, just in case. I will help shuttle vehicles to Grubb Ridge Parking area Friday night/Saturday morning for anyone who wants to park there. It all depends on how much hiking you want to do on Sunday as to where you leave your vehicle.

possible change of plans. if i can arrange to leave my car at blackwell, then im going to bushwack straight from friday nights camp to saturday nights camp. i see at least a couple of intriguing routes, including frank grubb ridge. sunday will be a partial trail-hike, partial bushwack

Bring "lawyers, guns, and money"!
Or if you don't have any of those just bring bourbon!

Lawyers, guns, money, and bourbon....recipe for disaster.
I could bring the last three but y'all have to provide your own targets...
Thanks uplover...

I can supply the lawyers because I work for them.

Why not make Blackwell the backup site. Won't need to shuttle

blackwell is a crappy campsite, plus a back-up campsite should be near the original, so you dont have ppl driving all over helter skelter. we have ppl coming in not as familiar with the area. we should keep it as simple as possible

Let's say it the first campsite is taken we will move on to the next one on Scyamore Trail. It's not that much farther. I'm going to see about getting Friday afternoon off. If I can get it off, I can get there about 2-3pm.

just so everyone is clear, park at the firetower. it is the third trailhead in, probably 15 minutes east of 446. the sycamore trail is about 5 minutes north of the parking lot. if that campsite at the intersection is taken, turn right and go to the next campsite. i dont remember if there are any campsites before the trail goes downhill, but it wont take long to find another site

Come on WK, play along!
I just figure maybe if we convince Nigal there's gonna be lots of bourbon there we can actually convince the bum to camp with us on Fri. night! ;)

I was looking at the map of Deam and see that I have never hiked Cope Hollow nor 545.

I have Friday off and get off work Thurs at 3pm. I'm thinking of camping THURS night at the site we have planned and leave my tent up. It is a green Lunar Solo if y'all get there before I get back.

On Fri:
Drive to Blackwell and hike Cope Hollow back to the Sycamore campsite.

Fri eve and Sat:
- with the group

On Sun:
Hike north on Grubb to the 545 trailhead, then back south on 545, and onto Blackwell (car).

If the timing is right then have lunch at the Usual Place (hungry for another tenderloin).

once youve figured out how to get to bloomington, take 446 south towards lake monroe. cross the lake on the bridge. continue uphill for about 10 minutes. look for a sign to your left that says "charles deam wilderness". follow the gravel road to the third trailhead. it will be on your left and have a firetower. i believe the name of the trailhead is "hickory ridge", but it could be terril ridge (which is the name of the trail). go north on the trail for about five minutes to the sycamore trail. the campsite is at the junction. if we're not there, continue down the sycamore trail (follow the smell of cheap booze) til you find us
