“We could see highs of 60 and lows of 30......somewhere in that range.

Most of the weather hits Dolly Sods, just to the west and 1,000+ feet higher.
Last year at the same time we could see it snowing up there while all we got was some spitting rain.”

You might take Rt 33 west from Harrisonburg, Virginia to Franklin, West Virginia and then north on Rt 220 to Petersburg, WVa.
From Petersburg you go west on Rt 55.

From the intersection of Rt. 55 & Rt. 42(there is a SHEETS gas station near there) go west about five miles on Rt 55.
Turn left on Smoke Hole Road(brown National Forest sign)and cross the river...........The North Fork Of The South Branch Of The Potomac River(no, really!).
The parking area for the northern trail head is about one mile or less on the right.”
