What if President Obama is assasinated?

A radical black group would be as likely as any other , imo. That way, they could achieve a nationwide uprising that would have the effects of the Rodney King reaction, but on a much, much grander scale - if an uprising is, indeed, what they aspire to.

I pray that such an occurance never happens! Nonetheless, I am making preparations to protect hearth and home - as we all should. Well... maybe not all of us. I realize that many of you live in a lily white society. Heck - I've logged three/four thousand miles on the Mighty Mighty Tacoma without seeing nary an African American.

I know people in Idaho the have never even met a black person.

I once dated a black nurse (phlebologist?) that attended a conference in SLC. She met a whitey that had never seen a black person in the flesh. The white girl wanted to touch Kim's skin and hair - LOL!

I've explored many an old homestead while out looking for arrowheads or just exploring some surrounding woodlands. A majority of these old homes still have the traditional gunrack above the entry doors - usually two forked sticks nailed to the wall. In their day, the gun was always there, and always loaded. Unlike us, they had no E911.

“While we can always wonder "What if?" I think the possibility of some horrible situation creating a "riot" is significantly more possible than say...oh Man made Global Warming (LOL).

Gojo, the way it works in Georgia is:
1. If local law enforcement feels they have a situation they call GSP (Georgia State Patrol) for assistance.

2. If it is worse, National Guard can be mobiliized in a few hours.

3. Finally it is up to all of us to make sure we can take care of ourselves (OH CRAP the R Word (RESPONSIBILITY).

I know that years ago there was an event in Savannah called "Orange Crush" or something that happened on Tybee Island. It was sponsored by the Savannah State Crowd and usually resulted in some rioting (over nothing more than the fact that Human debris (sadly of all colors) saw it as a large gathering ripe for abuse.

I think in '91 or what ever there was an incident where the President of the Savannah State Student Council discovered that the planning firm had basically taken the money from students and was not going to hold the event. He made a wise decision of contacting Tybee Island City Council that the promoter was planning on issuing a comment that Tybee would not let them hold the event (expected result was ....GASP Rioting).

They ended up setting up a process with Law Enforcement from all over, and took respectable students in black and white "referee shirts" who were given first right to eject people.

IF a Student Referee told you to get out...you were GONE. If you refused, you got a free ride to the pokey.

The Result (after everyone took responsibility) was that the only real incident was quelled quickly. Yes they had PLANNED for it, and knew what to expect. The response by the way, was a cobra gunship from Ft Stewart (LOL)>

The participants in the attempted fight were a couple of drug gangs..

I guess there are two ways to look at a situation.
1. You can do it like Lousianna did before Katrina and do nothing and whine afterward.
2. You can overplan, kinda like Georgia did with the G-8 Conference and have 10 times the manpower which you never really use.

What a funny post :-)

I guess I am a nut in Mutts eyes.

I never owned a gun until I took up competitive shooting as a sport. Being competitive does involve customizing. Reducing power with self loaded ammunition and having to modify the firearm so it will cycle using low powered ammunition. The low power results in less recoil and more accurate shooting for rapid fire sections.

Lets face it, the bullet only has to go 25 yards and get through a piece of paper, it does not have to incapacitate the bad person.

I have also bought firearms for hunting. But I do not buy tools where I have no purpose for them.

I do buy insurance, and hope I never have to use it. I can see people having guns as a specialized insurance, sort of like some people need flood insurance, a gun could be home invasion insurance if you live in a home invasion zone. But unless they practice with them the policy may not be much use when you have to make a claim.

But the person who only has a gun for security is the person who is neither nuts nor paranoid by Mutt's measurement.

Under normal circumstances, I would not advocate stashing a gun in the house for this very reason. However, an Obama asassination would likely have an immediate affect on the behavior of some people that could result in civil unrest. The usual targets are business districts, ie looters.

However, there may be an appreciable number among them that want nothing less than to "slap the nearest white man" or "get right with a white" or "bust a cap in they a$$" or just plain keep the hate alive.

Personal safety would be a personal responsibility for the first several hours - if not days - until order has been restored, and we can all then discuss it around the tables of my favorite restaurant - Hunters Soul Food, in beautiful downtown Jackson, Georgia.
