DAY HIKE IN OHIO
IM PLANNING A SMALL WINTER HIKE AT OLD MANS CAVE IN HOCKING HILLS HAS ANY ONE BEEN THERE?I HAVE THREE KIDS SO IM READY TO GET OUT

I'm not in Ohio anymore, but be aware, the steps going down to Old Mans will most likely be covered in ice. I'm told ya'll are in the middle of a deep freeze there (70* in Colorado. Ha!)

Winter is a great time to go as you avoid the crowds that are there Spring-Fall.

Just be prepared for the stairs and you'll be fine.

That said, if the stairs don't work out for you, there are other places in the Hocking Hills area to go that don't require an ice axe (I'm only exaggerating a little).

Ice and I don't get along. ;)

OMC gets so many visitors I'm sure the steps are fine. Do keep an eye on the little ones as there are some high over looks without guard rails. This area is an awesome place.

Rock House would be a favorite place for the kids too because It's a big cave you can go into and climb on stuff. Here's a picture of Birch in Rock House. Well, either it's Birch or Bigfoot.
