25 miles in a day “KTA is sponsoring the Susquehanna Super Hike along the Conestoga and Mason Dixon Trails between York and Lancaster, through the Susquehanna River Gorge. It is scheduled for Sept. 12, 2009. Preliminary info: http://www.kta-hike.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=section&id=12&Itemid=76” 10:11:27 AM 1/24/09 “I'm in... Jmitch you going to post this as a trip? '32oz” 9:15:27 PM 1/24/09 “What state is this in??? I'm sure I could be ready by September!!!” 6:42:29 AM 1/25/09 “Up NORTH Spam.....yankee country..” 6:49:50 AM 1/25/09 “Could ya be a little more precise???” 6:55:18 AM 1/25/09 “PA. Some fine hiking too. The event course will traverse both sides of the Susquehanna River in York and Lancaster Counties. The event will begin near the Otter Creek Campground and end at the Pequea Creek Campground. At least 11 significant climbs with over 3,000' elevation gain are encountered along the route ,which will prove a challenge to even the most adventurous hikers and trail runners. Just a few of the highlights include Urey Overlook, historic Lock 12, crossing the Susquehanna River on the Norman Wood Bridge, Face Rock Overlook, Kelly’s Run, the Pinnacle Overlook, and Wind Cave. In this timed event, participants are required - for safety reasons - to reach each checkpoint within a certain time period and to complete the hike in no more than 12.5 hours. ” 7:38:45 AM 1/25/09 “ and to complete the hike in no more than 12.5 hours. what if they dont?” 8:46:30 AM 1/25/09 “Is the river still polluted?” 9:08:19 AM 1/25/09 “You can scoop up buckets of water from the river and drink them on the spot. No treatment necessary. You're not planning on having children, are you?” 11:31:51 AM 1/25/09 “It's somewhere near York and Lancaster, Pennsylvania.” 12:10:40 PM 1/25/09 “I'm seriously thinkin about doing this hike...might be time to get seriously back in shape!!!” 1:21:27 PM 1/25/09 “There is some fine hiking there. The massive Susquehanna flows through a 400-500 foot deep gorge, at times it really narrows the river. Many nice overlooks, rock outcrops, historical features. It'll be a challenge. Kellys Run is very beautiful. I'll post a trip, though I don't know if I'll be hiking it. Same random links for Kellys Run. http://www.midatlantichikes.com/id96.html http://www.pplweb.com/holtwood/things+to+do/hiking/kellys+run++pinnacle+trail+system.htm” 2:38:18 PM 1/25/09 “Trip posted” 2:42:18 PM 1/25/09 “Cool I'm in!!! jmitch ya might want to organise a campground or another meeting place and the folks that want to come and hike can and the ones that don't want to do the hike could possibly volunteer!!! last edited: 1/25/09 3:03:37 PM” 3:25:33 PM 1/25/09 “The KTA already has that covered and is asking for volunteers. See the link jmitch first posted.” 3:47:55 PM 1/25/09 “I know thats why I said that maybe some of us could volunteer!!!I wouldn't plan on hiking something without checking it all out first!!!” 3:55:23 PM 1/25/09 “I'm in... we should put this on the trips page.” 7:00:21 AM 1/26/09 ens 7:59:47 AM 1/26/09 “doh.” 8:14:34 AM 1/26/09 “Cool thats four of us already!!!” 9:05:53 AM 1/26/09 “I think high maintenance and lightfoot are coming with me as well '32oz” 9:27:41 AM 1/26/09 “This is madness !! He might be interested and I'll need something pretty to chase.” 3:24:01 PM 1/26/09 “I'm not pretty. I could try, but it might not look good. I do recall Otter Creek Campground being pretty, is that the case ENS?” 3:37:58 PM 1/26/09 “Oh it looks right fine, never you worry. Any campground with my Trailgarita Nalgene in it will be pretty enough.” 3:44:56 PM 1/26/09 “I've not been to Otter Creek CG yet, but I will check it out.” 6:30:39 PM 1/26/09
