Spam is going South to Erwin.

I would love to go, but this weekend is the wife's B-day so I think I would be in big trouble. I am planning on posting a trip here for a few weeks from now.

My first backpacking trip was from Iron Mountain Gap to the Nolichucky River (in erwin). the spruce forest atop Unaka mountain is wonderful even though the views from up their are pretty much non-existent. But then Beauty Spot makes up for it with spectacular views. then you'll have that rock strewn drop down to the river valley (i thinks its like 1500' in 1 1/2 miles) But then there is a beautiful hike along the stream before you end up in a campground next to the river.

That second day about killed me, 12 miles, 4 puds and the big climb up Unaka left me with burning chub rub and jelly legs, but man what a beautiful night it was just off the peak of beauty spot.
