“I never agreed with the "Bush is Hitler" group either. Any time exagerration or dishonesty enters one's political opinion, that opinion is invalidated. That's why the "Bush is Hitler" people were laughed at. When Kanye West came out and said "George Bush doesn't care about black people" he was openly mocked far and wide by just about every media outlet (left or right) in existence. But Beck is celebrated for the same bs - for making baseless and outrageous claims with nothing to back them up. Even worse, he's followed. People don't look to Jon Stewart or Keith Olbermann for instructions on how to act and what to believe, but Beck has a whole following of people who'd do just about anything he tells them to. Mail a teabag to your congressman! Go yell at town hall meetings! It's not Beck who's risking arrest... it's the people he tells to do these things.

I'm fine with the BS (well, I'm not... but I'll accept it as an inherent part of political "debate" on television)... but don't market it as "Common Sense" or truth. I could go on TV, evoke a handful of names from our country's history (Thomas Paine is rolling over in his grave), show a few distorted charts, out of context video clips, and one-sided facts, and call the president political buzznames (communist, fascist, terrorist, muslim, racist). Anyone could. But I certainly wouldn't expect to be elevated above the level of a wacko soapbox preacher because I really wouldn't be anything more than that. Beck pretends he's the one voice of reason in the political world - but really, he's just more of the same foul BS we've always been inundated with
