Parents, bring out your kids for a weekend of camping, hiking, paddling, biking and good times.

Black Walnut Bottoms is a primitive camping area down in the Pine Creek Gorge. It is very scenic there and several of the sites are right a long the creek itself. I beleive there are bathrooms, but no showers.

There is a boat launching area there for canoes and kayaks. You can bring or rent those in nearby towns. There is biking on the Pine Creek Rails to trail and bike rentals are also available nearby. Hiking is on the Black Forest, Bob Webber and Golden Eagle trails, as well as some many other side trails in the area.

The town of Slate Run, PA is 2 miles up the road and there is a restaurant and country general store in the town. You can also get a room at the Hotel Manor if you are not ready to camp with your children.

Driving through the Canyon on PA 414 is very scenic and nearby are state parks that offer beautiful overlooks into the Canyon. There is also a petting zoo near Leonard Harris State Park.

I will try and see if I can muster up some evening musical entertainment for Saturday night in camp.

This trip is about the children, but everyone is welcome and everyone should have a good time.

That looks awesome. 7 hours and 55 minutes from here. I wonder how much through Canada? I'm looking into it. Looks like a great time.

With the change in date things are looking up a good bit. There is KTA Trail Care relatively nearby at Ravensburg SP and our place is kind of nearby too so maybe we can stop by if not stay.

Yo Rob, Change the date on the trip title.
People see the date for mothers day weekend and probably look not further.
