I believe in a woman’s right to choose, homosexual marriage, smaller government, fewer federal laws that override state laws, lower taxes, minimal business regulation, and I lean closer to Laissez Faire and free markets than they do, but my “liberal” friends keep calling me conservative. Since we seem to agree on a woman’s right to choose and homosexual marriage, do you think it’s my economic beliefs and wish for smaller, less intrusive, government that make me a conservative from their perspective?

I mean, they all tell me that we need government insurance programs, government housing, government pensions, government healthcare, and correspondingly large taxes to fund the government growth these and other programs they believe in require. They keep supporting federal laws for things like firearm control, environmental regulation, consumer protection, abortion rights, homosexual rights, and business regulation. I complain that the fastest growing segment of our economy for the past 50 years has been government and they think I’m a right-wing nut.

But, according to you, my “liberal” friends are wrong. According to the definition you posted, everything I stand for is contrary to Fascism. And you guys keep telling me Fascism is right-wing. Since it’s only possible to have authoritarian hierarchical government when you have a large government with strong federal regulation, they are so obviously wrong it would be clear to a child.

I’ve had an epiphany! This is so cool! Hey, would you give Paul Krugman a call and tell him that he and his leftist buddies have been wrong all along? I’m not right-wing. I am one of you now. I am a pod person.
