COCOAHEAD SNP TRIP THIS WEEKEND

“Cocoahead..

Highmaintenance and myself will be doing the 30 miles between RT56 (The gap between 3 Ridges and the Priest) and I 64 (Rockfish Gap/Afton Mountain) just south of SNP..

It will be 30 miles.. If you want to go we can hike it North To South. You can park at the Rockfish Gap Visitor Center and hike to the Paul Wolfe Shelter. We can meet you there. We will have a car stationed at RT56 and can shuttle you back..

Plan would be to hik to Paul Wolf Shelter Friday night.. Approx 5 miles south of 64. Or you can park at the Humpback rocks parking area and blue blaze in.

Saturday we will hike south to either the Maupin Field (16 miles) or Harper's Creek Shelter (22 miles). Saturday starts with a 2000ft climb over 6 miles. From there it levels off. If we choose to do the last 6 miles on Saturday, this would include 3 Ridges and another 1300 ft climb.

Sunday we would hike out to RT 56 amd shuttle back to I 64.

We will probably head to the Rockfish gap outfitters and then to the AYCE Chinese Buffet in Waynesboro.

“I might be available, have to be home by 4PM Sat. Heading up to Worlds End for an overnighter and a 17 mile day hike on Sunday.
