After my great week in the southwest, it was a pleasure to also return to my beloved Loyalsock State Forest and the glens and gorges of the Appalachians. It seemed a little odd to be among thick forests and babbling streams with water everywhere.

It has been some time since I visited Angel Falls and Kettle Creek along the Loyalsock Trail. The weather was incredible, 70s and sunny.

The trail winds along mountain streams through hemlocks and we bushwhacked to the bottom of Falls Run and climbed up to Angel Falls, passing several smaller cascades and falls along the way. Angel Falls is about 80 feet high and was running well. It was great to be back. At the top is a nice view.

Next was the Kettle Creek Gorge Natural Area and we reached a vista within the gorge. I like this view- no signs of development anywhere. The sun was warm on the rocks. We hiked down to Kettle Creek and looked at a few cascades and pools along this mountain trout stream and returned the same way.

Saw no one else on the trail. Great day.

thanks for the TR and pics--I'm just waiting for weather, days off, and family responsibilities to all line up favorably and I'm there!
