INTERESTING FACTS

The following information was obtained during a Doctoral research project (in epidemiology) performed by a student at the Georgia Institute of Technology. In the interest of privacy the candidates name was redacted but suffice it to say that one needs only consider the puritanical nature of the United States Government to understand why such information would not have been released publicly even in view of the recent threat of biological terrorism.

During the research the candidate discovered an obscure reference to the Hummerman Study and the significance of some of the findings. The Hummerman Study was performed at the Centers For Disease Control in the late 1970�s to determine potential sources of protection from varied chemical and biological hazards. At the time of the study one will remember that we were involved in a Cold War with the Soviet Bloc, a possessor of a number of chemical and biological weapons of mass destruction (WMD).

The Study began after a review of the effects of �Swine Flu� or H1N1 on employees who routinely worked in the pork industry. H1N1 is commonly known as the swine flue disease and as such it was noted that a number of employees in the industry face routine exposure to levels of the H1N1 spore, which would normally produce fatal results.

The exhaustive research noted that often the female employees exhibited significantly reduced effects of the disease than their male counterparts. Pursuing the research further, Dr. Hummerman, discovered that certain personal intimate practices of the females might have contributed to the difference in persistence related to countering the effects of the H1N1 spore. Two chemicals were determined to have a prophylactic effect on contracting the H1N1 virus. The study identified higher levels of alpha-glucosidase present in the female subjects in the study.

Alpha-glucosidase is one of the major components found in male seminal fluid. Herein lies the problem with the study. A brief abstract of the study indicates that the prophylactic effect of the fluid is significantly compromised by exposure to the normal atmosphere. Therefore, for subjects to obtain the maximum protection from this treatment it is recommended that the alpha-glucosidase containing fluid be introduced directly into the digestive tract.

It is therefore very reasonable to understand that, given the previously stated government attitude, members of the American Medical Community would oppose such a suggestion. Information contained in the conclusion of the Hummerman Study indicated that the potential for additional funding to research the second phase was cancelled due to the nature of the subject.”

In part I agree with you, but there is still a problem in that the panic caused by that type of reasoning masks who really should get Tamiflu and the vaccine. Over 2/3rds of the deaths in children have been kids with already high risk medical conditions like "epilepsy, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy and other neuro-developmental disorders". Instead of giving tamiflu and the vaccine to every kid who wants it, they should have started with the at-risk kids who have a statistically higher chance of dying from the flu, rather than otherwise healthy kids who will just get better from normal methods. But no sense interrupting a good panic when its making money for everyone due to the scarcity of the product. nevermind that the panic is causing people with moderate cases to flood clinics, doctors and hospitals, stressing resources for people with severe cases who need the care. Its good business and its filling beds so hospitals get paid.

The Trust for America's Thomas Frieden, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, reported Friday that the swine flu virus, also known as H1N1, has killed more than 1,000 people nationwide and prompted 20,000 to be hospitalized. For the second week in a row, deaths from flu and pneumonia increased last week, reaching a total of 2,416 from Aug. 30 to Oct. 17. Ninety-five children have died of swine flu since April, 11 more last week, he says.

Seasonal flu typically kills about 36,000 people and hospitalizes 200,000, the CDC says.
