I'm looking to do a bunch of AT sections in southern VA this summer... If anyone is interested in doing anything along the AT and wants to work out shuttles let me know...

My schedule is flexible..

I need to go from the bottom of Shenandoah to . . . oh, about 100 or 150 miles south of there.

If I could get a full week off that would be fantastic.

Nogranola and Baume
I pretty much need to do everything south of RT56 (3 Ridges)..

I have done The Priest/Spy Rock, Dragon's Tooth/McAffee Knob/Tinker's Cliff, and a bunch of Grayson Highlands, as well as a few smaller sections, but in looking at what I still needed today, I decided that instead of driving all over VA to do little sections, I might as well see the good stuff again...

I have a trip scheduled in June for the 37 mile section south of RT56, however, I may need to alter some plans do to a potential committment.. I still will be hiking that weekend, in that general area, just not sure of the plan yet..

Baume are you still thinking about hiking that weekend?

Nogranola and idea as to when you might be coming down to do that section...

Also, for anyone nutty enough to try it.. It's looking like the dates for my 3 day attempt at the AT through SNP (from Rockfish Gap to 522) will be June 16, 17 and 18 (this gives me half a day on the 19th in case I fall short).. I'm looking at a pack weight of under 10lbs with food and water for that trip... we will resupply at the campgrounds/waysides...

Hey baume, you are in Richmond, right? Us Richmonders should get together for a drink one night. From TT, we've got you, 32oz, HiMaintenance and me.

Sure, no problem. I will bring all my maps. And a forklift to carry them all.

How about one night in the next week or two, before 32gramweeniedoesthesnpin3days gets out of school and hits the trail. Otherwise, we won't see his hide until the fall.

32oz - how about you and HM pick the night. I don't have kid stuff to tend.

Actually I do need to borrow your Allegheny Trail Maps.. We will be doing the 60 mile section North of Durbin over Memorial Day Weekend.. (seems like an awful long time for 60 miles.. lol)...

Hey we could meet on Wednesday before and after the ODATC meeting.. Baume could be a guest...

It is the slide show, with everyones hikes....

I learned my lesson last summer.. .NEVER hike in a start park on summer solstace...

The looks that I got (especially from the park rangers)... This year I'm staying away form state parks.. I'm thinking McAffee Knob..

I will probably be looking to do some south of SNP. Depends on how many miles a day you plan to do. I did the central section this past weekend and I will be doing most of the south this weekend.

The mileage will vary, but depending on shuttles etc, since I will have a lot of free time, if we do weekend hikes, I would like to work it where I can stay out an extra day or two and get another 30-40 miles in...

In a perfect world, I taked my time when doing the good stuff, and pretty much blow through the tedious stuff.. Like the 9 miles of BS north of tinker's cliff before 220...

just let me know when you're free..
