“I'm looking for a show of hands (replies to this thread will do) that have hiked, like to hike, or hope to hike the Pennsylvania Mid State Trail ....and.... like to drink beer? (notice the conjunctive "AND" in that last statement...I'm not looking for just beer drinkers :) ). Anyone???”

“beers and camping near the junction of the Mid State and Seager spur seem to go hand in hand. I think every time I hiked on the Mid State Trail, drinking beer has been involved.

The Mid State Trail is 40 years old this year. To celebrate this event, the Mid State Trail Association is having a 40th Anniversary party of the MST. All are invited to join in the festivities. The event will be held at the Elk Creek Cafe + Aleworks (www.elkcreekcafe.net) in Millheim, PA. The 40th Anniversary Party will be Sunday, July 12th, from 2:00 - 4:00PM. To help in celbrating this occasion, the Elk Creek Cafe + Aleworks will be tapping their latest seasonal beer, the "Mid State Trail Ale".

Be one of the first to try the "Mid State Trail Ale" and join us for the festivities on July 12th. Since this is occurring on a Sunday afternoon, that leaves the majority of the weekend open for an MST hike. Just finish up at R.B. Winter's State Park, Poe Paddy/Poe Valley State Park, or Harry John's along route PA 45 and you won't be more than 20 minutes away from good food, awesome beer, and a great time at the MST 40th Anniversary party.”
