Justice Clarence Thomas was imminently qualified. The Anita Hill debacle was just that, trumped up crap. In Fact MS. Hill was removed from a college post for real sexual harassment allegations. (not removed per se but not given tenure) Liberals (read RACISTS) who oppose a black man who will not toe the "Plantation line" initially ...wait let me just give the quote http://www.opinionjournal.com/extra/?id=110009590 Justice Thomas was savaged by court-watchers as Antonin Scalia's dutiful apprentice, blindly following his mentor's lead. It's a grossly inaccurate portrayal, imbued with politically incorrect innuendo, as documents and notes from Justice Thomas's very first days on the court conclusively show. Far from being a Scalia lackey, the rookie jurist made clear to the other justices that he was willing to be the solo dissenter, sending a strong signal that he would not moderate his opinions for the sake of comity. By his second week on the bench, he was staking out bold positions in the private conferences where justices vote on cases. If either justice changed his mind to side with the other that year, it was Justice Scalia joining Justice Thomas, not the other way around. He was selected because he is a strict constructionist on the Constitution. He is an imminently qualified and personable man. What happened to him in the early days of his tour on the court are symptomatic of the real racisim that exists on the left.” 1:07:16 PM 5/27/09 “Is this a racist statement, libbies? "I would hope that a wise white man with the richness of his experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a black woman who hasn't lived that life." Guess who said the same thing.........LOL” 1:11:24 PM 5/27/09 “Finding Caucasians who'd sell out ---- No Problemo!” 1:24:29 PM 5/27/09 “Answer the question, T*ltypoo.” 1:27:00 PM 5/27/09 “They are called apologists, as a rule they have no logical reason for their position other than the "emotional" attachment to being a victim.” 1:29:17 PM 5/27/09 “I'm glad the libbies agree with me that was a racist statement. last edited: 5/27/09 1:20:39 PM” 2:00:48 PM 5/27/09 “Um Stovie I think they threw in the towel on Justice Thomas they are probably crying to the moderators to remove us for making them look silly.” 2:03:43 PM 5/27/09 “Well...........Obama's nominee for the U.S. Supreme Court is 100 percent consistent with his membership in an openly racist church, his racist pastor Jeremiah "God Damn America" Wright, and his open association with other racists and/or anti-Semites like Al Sharpton.” 2:11:45 PM 5/27/09 “She'll be the Sixth Catholic on the Court. Your buddies at Bob Jones U. can't be happy about that. I wonder what they say about Scalia behind his back. Sure, he does their dirty work, but he'll never be one of 'them'....” 2:13:29 PM 5/27/09 “T*lt thinks it's OK for a racist to serve.” 2:17:40 PM 5/27/09 “She thinks firefighters should be hired based on race and gender, rather than their ability to fight fires....typical liberal lunacy....” 2:43:31 PM 5/27/09 Typical libbie logic “Democrats 2001: We can't confirm Estrada because he is Hispanic. Democrats 2009: You better not oppose Sotomayor because she is Hispanic” 2:44:28 PM 5/27/09 “Is there anyone here that has even glimpsed at any of her opinions, much less read one?” 7:18:54 PM 5/27/09 “How much of a flaming Liberal could she be if Herbert put her on the Federal bench? Maybe they've slid so far to the right that he's a socialist now? < G >” 7:30:24 PM 5/27/09 “Herbert even mentioned her empathy as good quality in her introduction. I'd like to say HI to yawl, 'OneInFivers'. last edited: 5/27/09 7:18:44 PM” 8:02:37 PM 5/27/09 “Did you try reading the whole lecture instead just little snippets, mutt? http://www.nytimes.com/2009/05/15/us/politics/15judge.text.html?_r=1&pagewanted=all” 8:39:21 PM 5/27/09 “No libbies have any problems with her racist views. Why am I not surprised? LOL” 8:49:35 PM 5/27/09 “Mutt posted, "She may be something of a racist: "Our gender and national origins may and will make a difference in our judging. ... I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experience would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life." [U.C.Berkeley School of Law, 10/26/2001]'” Yep, Obama nominated a racist to the Supreme Court.” 8:56:29 PM 5/27/09 “I'm just enjoying watching the 20% get all worked up into a lather...” 9:06:52 PM 5/27/09 Headlines “Dems Have Set Precedent for the “Borking” of Nominees *snicker* Poor little libbies can dish it out, but can't take it.” 9:17:27 PM 5/27/09 “ 20% and falling. Great job, Dick. Keep up the good work.” 9:23:47 PM 5/27/09 “Not only is she a racist, but a gun grabber. No wonder the libbies love her.” 9:38:37 PM 5/27/09 “I'm sure that growing up as a white, middle-class, male gives me a different perspective than that of a Hispanic woman who grew up in a Bronx housing project. I guess that makes me a racist too. Sonia Sotomayor, child of poor immigrants who came here looking to make a better life, has ascended, through hard work and intelligence, from a Bronx housing project through Princeton and Yale Law School to become a Supreme Court nominee. What an American success story!” 5:44:03 AM 5/28/09 “So what is it with the conservative sweethearts, jealousy or perhaps resentment of a non-white female from the lower class succeeding?” 5:49:22 AM 5/28/09 “I'm sure that growing up as a white, middle-class, male gives me a different perspective than that of a Hispanic woman who grew up in a Bronx housing project. But are you capable of seeing and understanding other people's perspectives? This is what it's about. Sotomayor says you can't because of your race and gender. I say that's racist bullsh*t.” 6:01:10 AM 5/28/09 “That is a mighty thin excuse to accuse the woman of "racism".” 6:05:09 AM 5/28/09 “mutt obviously lacks the fortitude to read all 3,929 words. Linda Lowen has made it easier for you: I intend... to talk to you about my Latina identity, where it came from, and the influence I perceive it has on my presence on the bench.... Like many other immigrants to this great land, my parents came because of poverty and to attempt to find and secure a better life for themselves.... The Latina side of my identity was forged and closely nurtured by my family through our shared experiences and traditions.... America has a deeply confused image of itself that is in perpetual tension. We are a nation that takes pride in our ethnic diversity, recognizing its importance in shaping our society and in adding richness to its existence. Yet, we simultaneously insist that we can and must function and live in a race and color-blind way that ignore these very differences that in other contexts we laud.... When I finished law school in 1979, there were no women judges on the Supreme Court....There was then only one Afro-American Supreme Court Justice and then and now no Latino or Latina justices on our highest court.... [O]ne of my former colleagues on the Southern District bench, Judge Miriam Cederbaum....rightly points out that the perception of the differences between men and women is what led to many paternalistic laws and to the denial to women of the right to vote because we were described then "as not capable of reasoning or thinking logically" but instead of "acting intuitively."... Judge Cedarbaum nevertheless believes that judges must transcend their personal sympathies and prejudices and aspire to achieve a greater degree of fairness and integrity based on the reason of law. Although I agree with...Judge Cedarbaum's aspiration, I wonder whether achieving that goal is possible in all or even in most cases.... whether by ignoring our differences as women or men of color we do a disservice both to the law and society.... I accept the thesis of... Professor Steven Carter of Yale Law School...that in any group of human beings there is a diversity of opinion because there is both a diversity of experiences and of thought.... [B]ecause I accept the proposition that, as [Yale Law School Professor Judith] Resnik describes it, "to judge is an exercise of power" and because as... Professor Martha Minnow of Harvard Law School states "there is no objective stance but only a series of perspectives - no neutrality, no escape from choice in judging," I further accept that our experiences as women and people of color affect our decisions. The aspiration to impartiality is just that--it's an aspiration because it denies the fact that we are by our experiences making different choices than others.... Whether born from experience or inherent physiological or cultural differences...our gender and national origins may and will make a difference in our judging. Justice [Sandra Day] O'Connor has often been cited as saying that a wise old man and wise old woman will reach the same conclusion in deciding cases. I am not so sure....that I agree with the statement. First, as Professor Martha Minnow has noted, there can never be a universal definition of wise. Second, I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life. Let us not forget that wise men like Oliver Wendell Holmes and Justice Cardozo voted on cases which upheld both sex and race discrimination in our society. Until 1972, no Supreme Court case ever upheld the claim of a woman in a gender discrimination case. I, like Professor Carter, believe that we should not be so myopic as to believe that others of different experiences or backgrounds are incapable of understanding the values and needs of people from a different group.... As Judge Cedarbaum pointed out to me, nine white men on the Supreme Court in the past have done so on many occasions and on many issues including Brown [v. Board of Education.] However, to understand takes time and effort, something that not all people are willing to give. For others, their experiences limit their ability to understand the experiences of others. Other simply do not care. Hence, one must accept the proposition that a difference there will be by the presence of women and people of color on the bench. Personal experiences affect the facts that judges choose to see. My hope is that I will take the good from my experiences and extrapolate them further into areas with which I am unfamiliar. I simply do not know exactly what that difference will be in my judging. But I accept there will be some based on my gender and my Latina heritage. ” 6:18:19 AM 5/28/09 “I think hers are thoughtful and well reasoned opinions. I'm glad we'll have someone with her abilities on the bench.” 6:20:14 AM 5/28/09 “You keep insisting the "context" will help mitigate her racist conclusion, but it doesn't. I've already addressed why I think it doesn't.” 6:55:07 AM 5/28/09 “Frankly, I don't care too much about your opinion. Others may find this thread and take the time to consider the facts.” 7:13:01 AM 5/28/09 “Of course you don't, violin - the facts support my opinion.” 7:18:35 AM 5/28/09 “Okay guys...who said it and when? "[E]ven though it is not the actual predicate for this legislation, a statute of this kind inevitably is perceived by many as resting on an assumption that those who are granted this special preference are less qualified in some respect that is identified purely by their race. Because that perception -- especially when fostered by the Congress of the United States -- can only exacerbate rather than reduce racial prejudice, it will delay the time when race will become a truly irrelevant, or at least insignificant, factor. Unless Congress clearly articulates the need and basis for a racial classification, and also tailors the classification to its justification, the Court should not uphold this kind of statute."” 7:23:14 AM 5/28/09 “Given the facts, violin as way off base on this one. Her own words... I guess the New Haven Fire department case doesn't mean anything either. As I said early in this thread, her appointment can't possibly surprise anybody. Very predictable. Bad but predictable. But that fact of the matter, there is nothing in all that the lemmings here have said that goes to her being qualified for the job. All this feel good stuff is fine, gosh she came up from the ghettos. OK, but that isn't really relavant to the job, if the job is to go in there and rule on matters of law. Unfortunatly, she is not being sent there to rule on matters of law, she will be there to be sure that laws are twisted around to have different meaning than originally intended and one of those laws she is to twist up is the Constitution. If the Constitution needs to be changed, there is a process in place to do it. And nowhere in the Constitution, Bill of Rights or ammendments does it say that the way to change it is to nominate judges that will ignore it.” 7:30:26 AM 5/28/09 “Listening to a Bush supporter gripe about the "twisting" of the Constitution and Bill of Rights is high-larious!” 8:14:19 AM 5/28/09 “ROSEY!!! you are back...hey let me ask this..do you see the Constitution as a "living document"? I mean if this Court decides "privacy" means A, but in 10 years a really ULTRA conservative court decides 'Well privacy has to give way to Government needs" that would be okay?” 8:20:11 AM 5/28/09 “Listening to a liberal lemming claiming that what I said isn't true is entirely predictable. Go ahead and toe the party line. That saves you from thinking on your own.” 8:37:57 AM 5/28/09 “NoProb...nails the Liberals so easily (LOL)” 8:41:32 AM 5/28/09 “She's a racist gun grabber.” 8:48:20 AM 5/28/09 “OOPS...looks like it is right Judge Sonia Sotomayor is listed as a member of the National Council of La Raza, a group that's promoted driver's licenses for illegal aliens, amnesty programs, and no immigration law enforcement by local and state police. According the American Bar Association, Sotomayor is a member of the NCLR, which bills itself as the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the U.S. Meaning "the Race," La Raza also has connections to groups that advocate the separation of several southwestern states from the rest of America. http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=99420 For those of you who do not know...La Raza is the Mexican answer to the KKK>” 8:49:47 AM 5/28/09 “ ”9:26:01 AM 5/28/09 “ ”9:34:43 AM 5/28/09 “'For those of you who do not know...La Raza is the Mexican answer to the KKK>' Funded by the Chamber of Commerce.” 9:36:31 AM 5/28/09 “ ”9:54:26 AM 5/28/09 “Aw Heck. We know you guys would prefer Reich Marshall Göring, but he's been dead for years. These guys invoking the KKK is a laugh and a half.” 10:19:32 AM 5/28/09 “If la Raza was advocating for whites, or Christians, you would be the one making that comparsion, Tilty. What a hypocrit!!!” 10:23:28 AM 5/28/09 “The Georgia Goober approves of racism for the 'correct' people.” 10:42:04 AM 5/28/09 “They say the KKK is the lynch pin in Mississippi politics.” 10:43:34 AM 5/28/09 “They wear pointy hats to cover their pointy heads.” 10:55:49 AM 5/28/09 “I mean if this Court decides "privacy" means A, but in 10 years a really ULTRA conservative court decides 'Well privacy has to give way to Government needs" that would be okay?” XL You expecting the OneInFives to return to Two'n'HalfInFive that quickly?” 10:56:23 AM 5/28/09
