really? i have never been to a state park where it was not allowed. hmm to me, it seems most state parks actually allow it.. i think the only place this was ever an issue was on fed land.

“I have heard from people in Pennsylvania, Indianna, Wisconsin that alcohol is not permitted in state parks. Could be wrong, could be right. I doubt that NC is teh only state that does this.”

“Wrong! Yes you do need a license. They just started this about 3 years ago. It's only 15.00 a year. If you get caught without them it's a hefty fine, so I just pay the 15.00 and not worry about it.

I've got quite a few salt-water rods and reels, and tackle. I can have you set up with no problem.”

“Ok, I have our space reserved. I went ahead and booked all 3 group sites :). Its all one one big area anyway. I don't think we will even come close to the number of people it takes to justify the three sites, but the number of tents will be the issue. 4 tents on each site means a max of 12. If we bring a couple of screen tents that will leave only 10 tents for people. I will have space in my tent for any bikini clad women who otherwise would be the soul user of a tent. I will make that sacrifice so that someone else may have that extra tent space.”

“there are shady areas, but not where we are camping. We will be in the middle of the dunes with the beach about 50 yards away. the dunes may provide shade late in the afternoon.

“there is a difference between being on the beach and being in the dunes. the wind blows on the beach, the dunes purpose is to redirect the wind over them so that things can grow out of the wind. thats where the gnats can be found sometimes. the little bastards usually early in the morn and late in the afternoon”

I have a four man tent and a 3 room tent I could bring which could help with the tent numbers.”

You can use grocery bags filled with sand. Just use a few together. Or those long plastic stakes, you won't be hitting any rocks.

“Bucky, I didn't notice any lightning rods on those buildings in hyway's picture, (maybe to small) but they are real close to the group campsites, and I would hang out under them in a lightning storm.

I used to design lightning protection for public buildings and it is almost a given that the buildings have some sort of lightning protection.”
