Do it again next year?
I vote a solid yes - and I'll try to show up earlier next time. Doesn't have to be the same weekend, but I'm absolutely crazy about Bear Island. After 6pm, you get the island and beach to yourself, and hot showers to boot! It's a perfect set-up for a nice leisurely campout away from the crowds.

The length
Google maps says the island is about 3.8 miles from end to end. We hiked on the beach by the ocean. I didn't go on the other side, the sound side, but often its marshy and not hike-able. Anyone go back there?

On Sunday evening we hiked to the western end of the island and after a beautiful sunset could see fireworks going off in that direction. On the way back we could see fireworks going off over Emerald Isle. Pretty cool.

Sounds like a great outing. Enjoyed the reports, remarks and the pictures. Thanks.

The fireworks were nice. That was the silver lining to it being a cloudy night and the full moon not being able to shine through

LOL...yeah, stomper was definately the only one who stayed verticle the whole time at Trail Daze. hehe

Hmmm...there's only one thing worse than packing up a sandy tent, and that would be a sandy and wet tent. So if someone could put in an order for no rain this time, I would appreciate it. Put me down as a definate maybe.

This is a State park with a limited number of sites. There are individual sites a few hundred feet apart and 3 group sites. I would need to reserve them and the deposit is basically the whole fee so I would need to know for sure on at least a few people.
