Day hike the Michigamme
Greetings, folks. It's been a while. You have been helpful in the past, so I thought I'd try it again. I will be up fishing on the Michigamme Reservoire in the UP eh. I would like to take a day hike through the woods one day while I'm up there, eh. Four to six miles probably. Anyone have any suggestions? I would like to end up at the Reservoir so I can be picked up by boat. Logging roads are fine. Just need to get out there and commune. Not much on line as far as hiking trails around the reservoir. Thanks! Looking forward to reading some smart-ass answers, eh.

Hi Niblefoot. Remember me from a couple of years back. I'm a Sconny girl. I believe we talked (typed) about Lawrence U?

We may have conversed, but not about Lawrence U. We could have talked about something else, bars you've been thrown out of, jails you've been in, etc. Nowslimmer may have talked to you about Lawrence U, I think he went there and he's always trying to connect himself with our wonderful state.

Whatcha wanna know, Lucy Jones? Are you camping there? Are you opposed to driving away from Michigamme to a place to hike?

There are miles and miles of public land and logging roads all around Michigamme. The MI DNR website is full of free maps. Here's one for that area:

Nimlefoot, you are correct. I believe it was Nowslimmer.
Nonconformist, thanks! No, i am not opposed. Here is the situation. I will be staying with friends just outside Kiernan. I can get dropped off by my friend on his way to the boatlanding, this is why I would like to be able to end at the reservoir. If there is someplace fantastic around there, I will work out the logistics. I was thinking of heading out from the Lake Ellen area and heading north, then west. I can see the logging roads on Google Earth.

I don't recall a specific trail in that area but there should be no shortage of two-tracking. I'll see what else I can find out for you.
