No, I was just pointing out that you were being a total dork. I was being helpful in offering you my objective, value nuetral observation. I don't bother picking fights with jerks like you.

PS: I use the term "jerk" in a fact based, value free, objective manner in order to enlighten. Only a complete idiot and/or ass would think I was being angry or insulting.

i couldnt agree more, and im studying to be a teacher. unfortunately, there is pressure to have your students do well, and if your job is on the line, what are you going to do? every state has hundreds of standards that each teacher must meet. teachers are under pressure to fulfill them. they are left precious little room for creativity and everything else armchair critics would like to see”

“Crash- I salute you for endeavoring to teach children. Other than "mother", it can be argued that there are very few professions that are more important. I believe that line from that sappy old Whitney Houston song: "... I believe the children are our future/ Teach them well and let them lead the way...".

The problem in our culture is that we all cant seem to agree on two important points hinted at in that song: 1. HOW to teach them well, and 2. WHAT to teach them.

HOW to teach them: It seems to me that we all agree that teachers HAVE to be held accountable to parents and the community in which they teach for the outcomes of the children under their tutelage. But we also have to come up with more effective "accounting" mechanisms than these stupid standardized tests. Let-s all face it, they-re dumb and making our kids dumber! Teachers and their unions have to face the music and help create standards and ways of evaluation that give a true picture of not only a teachers performance, but how well their kids are learning and progressing.

WHAT to teach. I-ll be blunt here: I believe that that the very things that were taught to generations of kids in the past, that have contributed to the greatness of this culture and this country, have been systematically eliminated from our classrooms: moral education. Specifically, that we all "reap what we sow" or, in a more PC rendering, that each of us receives the consequences of the decisions we take. I believe that we all know in our gut that we are accountable to a "higher power", call "it" what you will. Without moral education, we are emasculating our children at the very root of their worldview, and dooming them to a downward spiral of ever-diminishing goals and accomplishments, seen from a societal, not necessarily individual, context.
