The drug dealers, churches and other do-gooders won't have any part that reasonable thinking, remember ; 'once a sin, always a sin', ' Going to jail in a Zip-loc baggy'.

Estimates are $1.5 billion in tax revenue annually from leaglizing marijane. Pretty attractive to this cash-strapped state. Hell, we're already the number one stateside producer of it anyway.

it's strange that it actually does make sense to legalize it... doubt it'd ever happen though

yeah... that and people can't seem to get past the "but it's a DRUG!" thing. The people out here I know who are vocally against itare more or less out of touch, and consider something like marijuana to be in the same category as heroin or PCP.

And it isn't like legalizing it will suddenly make a bunch of people start using it. If a 10 year old can get his hands on a bag of weed in the playground, it's already more or less easily available to just about anyone who'd want to use it.

I see nothing but benefits

Ron Paul addresses the faulty hearings that were used when it was first made illegal in his book The Revolution: A Manifesto. He cites the false "expert" testimony.

pepsiformosa is right - people are out of touch about the realities of it

It's well known. DuPont invented nylon, manufactured ship rope, and wanted to put hemp outta business. The Hearsts were in cahoots with DuPont and owned the SF Chronicle, spreading malicious lies. It was all downhill from there. Hemp make total and complete sense, but the puritanical right wing shmucks can't see beyond that and the cotton lobby will advocate strongly against legalization. A pair of hemp jeans will outlast a pair of cotton jeans by 10 times.

In 1934 when alcohol was legal again, the courts, jails and all the crooks were out of a job--intentional crime is big business and the drug problem is mostly in the prescription side anyway,ie. MJ , Rush etc.

The biggest problem in america is we can never admit to being wrong and will continue to do things wrong until we are back to third world status. Slavery 2 (illegals)is a prime example.

wow, I just read the article about the crop seizure - one of the biggest seizures was in Malibu Creek SP, one of my absolute favorite places to hike, and mostly off-trail. Jesus, I wander what the reward would've been had I stumbled upon that crop and told the fuzz about it... damn
