I hope we get some temperatures by then that are low enough (40 deg. or lower) to kill the chiggers. Everybody do your frost dance!

Man I hate chiggers! I was walking out to my boats yesterday and I felt something on my leg and I looked and it was about 200 teeny tiny seed ticks and they were ON THE MOVE NORTH! I ran in and took a shower quick, lemme tellya...

Hiking
Of course Jerbear is still on the trail but he is going to try to get a flight to LR Friday. I'll pick him up and we will head to Kyles Landing. I will try to Aaron to meet us to help with the shuttle. Chilli, Mary wants to go with us too....remember Spring River?

If this works out there might be 4 more backpackers from Kyles to wherever you guys want to stop. Is it Pruit or Ozark?

Moz

Hey Owl you and Keith up for a couple of days on the Current River say Wednesday and Thursday before the backpacking trip? Go to Paddling.net for infor.

Thanks for the Current invite Moz. I'll consider it but it's unlikely.

I was near your neck of the woods yesterday in Malvern at the whitewater play park on the Ouachita River at Rockport. It's a cool place to take a kayak when there are no rivers running in the state.

Pruit is good! I'll try get Aaron to meet us up there and help with the shuttling. Hmm, maybe he will bring his guitar and you guys could entertain us in the evenings.

Strat are you still in Fayetteville?

Owl I know that driving to Pultite Campground in Missouri and then back to the Buffalo to start at Steele Creek or Ponca would make for a long week for you guys.

What a poorly-organized website.

OK, no Mugsy. Unlike what Randall has alluded to, I am a law-and-order guy.

I've been caught in a "dog sting" operation at the Buffalo - they're real serious about it. Remember that one Strat?
After that we took to hikin in the wilderness area.

There's plenty of gravel bar there but it's not as photographically interesting as the river and bluff. Good swimming there, too. Clothing optional ;-)

I've never been to "Caver's Camp" but have camped relatively near it on the Cecil Cove Loop while looking for Thunder Canyon Falls (below).

Oh OK. I haven't been to caver's camp either but I've always wanted to. I've been on about half of cecil cove loop, going to Mud Cave. And yes, that's the perfect name for that place. It's hard to describe it and do it justice, but every square centimeter of it was made of mud. It was this slimey wet clay mud that made it hard to stand up. Everyone kept slipping and splatting in it. It was fun. I've never seen Thundeer Canyon Falls before but I've heard it's pretty sweet. Cool pics, dood!

No problem. It looks like we are good to shuttle at least 10 from Pruitt to Ponca.

Those leaving Sunday can leave their vehicles at Pruitt, where we will end the hike.

I will just need to work out a way to get back to Ponca to pick up the shuttle vehicles but we should be good to go.

I am guessing we will have a couple vehicles at Kyles Landing that we will need to get people shuttled back to as well.

We will be camping at the Ozark Campground Thursday night and having breakfast at the Ozark Cafe Friday morning.

Those needing a shuttle to Ponca can meet us at either place. As far as I can tell, we have NO shortage of shuttle space from Pruitt to Ponca. We will, however, need to work out the plan to get from Pruitt back to Ponca to pick up the vehicles on Sunday.

Those coming in Friday can meet us at Kyles.
