Cash for Clunkers destruction

I don't understand how someone can call themself a backpacker or pro-environment and still support this guy. His Clunker program just encourages consumption and his Cap and Trade program basically says it's okay if you pollute and destroy the environment, you just have to pay more money to do it. This guy is no friend of the environment.

Last time I checked we're still mining and burning coal too. I say he fires all the coal miners and puts them to work building bike paths rather than highways and bridges. I mean we have to do something as soon as possible, don't we?

True, environmentally, the cash for clunkers program has a very menial impact environmentally. I was pretty disappointed in the required increases in mileage required for the "ugrade." However, it wil take those POS vehicles off of the street permanently and car sales for the Big 3 have increased substantially.

Why do you think poor people are stupid? There are plenty of economical used vehicles for sale out there. Seeing as how you live in the poorest state in the country, I'd think you would know this. But then again, maybe you only surround yourself with dopes.

"I'm directing our departments and our agencies to make sure 100 percent of the vehicles they buy are fuel-efficient or clean energy cars and trucks by 2015. Not 50 percent, not 75 percent — 100 percent of our vehicles," Obama said today - Turns out his limousine is excluded.

i see your point HPD, 100% is 100% , but i also can "get it" that from a practical standpoint there are certain security issues that will prevent 100% from being really all that attainable.

It's still a good goal and still sends a good message.

I disagree that telling Americans how to live is sending a good message - ESPECIALLY when the government thinks it is above (more important than) ordinary citizens. I also think it's extremely alarming that many Americans don't think twice about elevating the government (officials) over ordinary citizens and with them telling them how to live.

The ones who think they are above the rule of law are the ones to be taxed heavily for their refusal. This would be the same group who are not handicapped, but still have the placard and use it. The wild west is now only in the old movies even if you do own a Harley.
