Black Hills/Bighorns/Or Other Midwest
I guess you could call this the WISHY-WASHY LABOR DAY TRIP

LOL

Am considering a trip to the greater Black Hills area over some portion of Aug. 28-Sept. 7. If not that whole time, then the latter part (say, Wed or Thursday, Sept. 2 or 3 through the 7th. I want to be heading home on Labor Day (and/or the day before).

Would also be open to Teddy Roosevelt National Park (ND), Little Missouri River Badlands (ND), Slim Buttes in NW SD, (these could all be in one trip); Bighorns (especially western part around Medicine Lodge); Fort Robinson, Nebraska, Lusk, Wyoming and maybe Laramie Peak near Douglas; ETC...

Lots of possibilities. Any takers??

If not I may well be hosting a trip at Yellow River State Forest in Iowa part of the time... or at the Kickapoo Valley Reserve in Wisconsin (these likely over Labor Day itself)

So speak up! :-)

I'd love to spend some time in the Bighorns, i've heard really nice things about it. A buddy of mine grew up in Casper and speaks highly of the Cloud Peak Wilderness. Of course I can't go labor day weekend, but i'd like to think i might spend a few days there next summer.

Ummm, funds are lacking... but.. will see... I've never headed west without some agenda set ahead of time. Well, I still need to set this trip up!

Follow your nose. That adds a huge element of surprise. Planning leads to anticlimaticism - let downs left and right.

Not planning results in not being able to use what you didn't put in your pack. Balance.

Liz knows how to pack, methinks.

This looks to be a go to South Dakota somewhere. Decisions are now being made... pay attention if interested!
