Wonderful Rock Run- TRView MessagesViewing posts 1 to 5 of 5 messages posted.
“Nestled in a deep gorge, within the Loyalsock State Forest, is Rock Run, a creek of great beauty. This untouched watershed creates a crystal clear stream that has scoured the bedrock, creating chutes, slides, chasms, and falls. Cliffs rise over it, as boulders are strewn about. We hiked up the creek during a beautiful, hot afternoon. I swam in one pool and slid down a chute, the water was crystalline and cold. The scenery is superb; springs seep from the layers of cliffs, creating draperies of moss. Springs also polish the contoured bedrock. You can see the bottom, 10-20 feet below. As the sun was setting, we hiked up Miners Run. Sadly it was too dark to take pics. Miners Run is a tributary to Rock Run and it has carved a glen of remarkable beauty. Falls after falls; massive boulders laying everywhere. Cliffs encased the glen in twilight. We scrambled up the stream bed, climbing up the boulders. The Boulder Arch was a highlight, as was "spelunking" under another boulder through which the creek flowed underneath. We hiked back out as it was dark. A great way to spend the day. Rock Run Gorge is such an awesome place. Enjoy the pics. http://outdoors.webshots.com/album/574160237InTWmB?vhost=outdoors&start=0 last edited: 8/17/09 7:28:40 AM” 7:39:44 AM 8/17/09 “Great pictures.
