Raingear??
Howdy, Does anyone know anything about GAnder Mtn brand "packable" rain pants, as they call them?

I need a pair o' pants and I can't seem to find Dry Ducks or Frogg Toggs in my area and I have super limited funds and limited time too.

If anyone has tried em and they work, please let me know. Thank ya.

Hey I had a pair I grabbed on the road to an improv weekend trip in college. They did fine. I don't know how they'd hold up to long term use - but for a couple trips they'll keep ya dry.

If you see Red Ledge on the shelf they would be a good choice and easier on the budget than Marmot and the like. I had a set for several years that held up real well.

Red Ledge has always held up Extremely Well. Bit heavy but it works great in tough situations.

yeah, it wasn't the lightest weight option, but far from the heaviest. I thought it was a great compromise between price, weight and performance.

I have been on some very "tough hikes" involving some heavy brush...the stuff was as tough as nails.

If you have access to a Sam's Club they have Frog toggs knock off called Natural Gear for $25 complete set.

Wally world had a frogg togg knockoff a few years ago. Much thinner and shredded at the first sign of brush.

I saw in the latest STP mailer that they have a khaki(!) frog toggs avail for $29. Tempting...

i ended up with a pair of Columbia Omni tec pants. They were on sale and ended up being the same price as the Gander brand. Taylor and I took em to my parents house to test them out. I put em on and he had fun sprayin me with the water hose....lol. Wish we still had the sprinkler...that woulda been fun!

FROG TOGGS....

The Factory is in my town....they make differing weights, the 29.00 ones are used for freebee giveaways and advertizing specialties....avoid those, the do not wear well...

additionally, the hem in the jackets has an elastic band sewn in it, in a manner that makes removing it impossible...the bottom snaps are weak, and when they give, the elastic tends to separate the zipper at the bottom, and they ARE NOT self healing...the last time that happened, I ripped the zipper apart in frustration....I will not buy another set until they come out with a drawstring hem in the jackets.

DriDucks- by Frogg Toggs
SweatPeaStu-

I just ordered a suit of the DriDucks variety of Frogg Toggs, for $16.99 & free Shipping from this website:

www.froggtoggsraingear.com

They are not the manufacturer, they just market all their stuff. From the main page, you have to look in the "Golf Suits" section to find the DriDucks.

This same company is always selling Frogg Toggs on eBay, using the seller name:

savebigoutdoors_jeremykcdeer

Thru eBay the DriDuck suits are $12.59 + $4.99 First Class Mail. Either way pretty cheap for a very lightweight, waterproof, and (I've been assured) breathable rainsuit.

I have not received the suit yet, but hope to test them out on a few trips this fall in the Dolly Sods. I do not expect them to be durable or long lasting - I'm only interested in them because they're light weight and cheap.
