Well when Jackstraw exited the truck you should have seen the look those guys gave. Hehehe...when I approached a young woman (whom I now know was one of the bush pilots wife) as I noticed her gaze and curious smile so I turned to look at what she was looking at and yep....Jackstraw and his wire hairy legs...honestly she asked me .........quote! is that a dude? I choked and laughed as I replied back....yep it sure is we picked him up hitch hikin!” 2:02:18 PM 3/30/10 “LOL Good one Fridge!” 4:04:43 PM 3/30/10 “It's the truth too. Everyone vote him in to wear it again and watch the locals jaw drop.” 4:15:16 PM 3/30/10 “I vote he wears a pink one this year.” 7:37:37 PM 3/30/10 “Oh--forgot about the skeeters. I was going to wear a kilt to make peeing discretely a bit easier.” 6:10:39 PM 3/31/10 “Are you saying Jackstraw wears a kilt when he's "waiting to get air lifted"? Sounds like it was a windy day and Jackstraw was about to pull a Maryln-Monroe-standing-over-a-air-vent show.” 12:30:41 PM 4/01/10 “Ahaaaa yes jackstraw was definitely blowing in the wind.” 2:28:52 PM 4/01/10 “Dude this year Im going to wear a plaid one! Hommie can work a kilt Yo!” 4:03:27 AM 4/02/10 “I can hear it now. The bagpipes will be playing "Under the Midnight Sun" as Jackstraw steps out of the bush plane.” 4:48:55 AM 4/02/10 “now jackstraw I never said anything about your first day out there, what you had on that evening. yea you can work a kilt.” 12:56:41 PM 4/02/10 “I'll download some bag pipe music to my iTouch” 3:51:48 AM 4/03/10 “and with all those cameras in hand, will look like a celebrity event.” 4:20:48 AM 4/03/10 “Fridge....you ARE a celebrity in Alaska.” 5:22:22 AM 4/03/10 “not as much as Jackstraw in Nabesna. I bet when we arrive this time the entire staff will be waiting for Jack the kilt straw to exit the van. Hey and with bag pipe music and all those cameras clicking....now thats da bomb. Jackstraw will eat that up with his charm and usual grin. Heck look at that pic of him setting in the plane just before we air lifted off. Now that is a pimp in his ride. I often wondered what the bush pilot was thinking as he helped Jack straw into the back seat of his super cub all wearing that kilt as he bent over and mooned the pilot. hehehe.” 5:36:26 AM 4/03/10 “Watch out for the prop wash Jack, or there could be a full moon. Jump back Jack!” 5:41:33 AM 4/03/10 “You gonna get a kilt in the proper tartan? Fridge tells me that Jack look rather tart in his kilt.” 5:43:14 AM 4/03/10 “too bad Marko isn't going.” 6:26:01 AM 4/03/10 “Yup, it looks like I am going to miss the kilt show.” 10:55:18 AM 4/03/10 “Come to LaPlata. Performances daily. Worth the drive. We'd even feed and beer you.” 12:21:40 PM 4/03/10 “ya know everbodys gonna be disapointed. its going to be very anticlimactic. ya seen one guy in a kilt ya seen em all. but since its goonna be a party thered better bbe plenty of Guiness!” 3:59:06 PM 4/03/10 “fridge - yeah, the first night. it was one of my odder moments.” 4:04:44 PM 4/03/10 “No kilt on after we set camp up. It looked like messiah walking around though with the moo moo thingy.:)” 5:32:52 PM 4/03/10 “it wasnt a MOO MOO! It was one of those arab smock thingies!” 6:17:46 PM 4/03/10 “The proper term for what he was wearing was prairie dress.” 9:15:48 PM 4/03/10 “yea what Dub said.” 4:51:38 AM 4/04/10 “I'll be using this http://cascadedesigns.com/msr/water-treatment-and-hydration/basecamp-water-treatment-and-hydration/autoflow-gravity-filter/product if you want to use it.” 5:02:21 AM 4/04/10 OFFICIAL ALASKA 2010 TEAM “Sunnydaze Cocohead Jackstraw Eggs Bobbie Panger Tango Ken Panger Amy G Grrrg Mauricio Karbellas Fridge” 5:13:46 AM 4/04/10 “Yay Team!!!!” 8:55:31 AM 4/04/10 “Don't forget your hockey stick, Tango. “Come to LaPlata. Might have to make one up for my Dad. You all sound like a creative bunch so feel free to come up with one before you meet him. They called him old man on the mountain when he was on top of Mt Aconcagua Dec 2008, but that seems too long.” 5:32:46 AM 4/05/10 “Second gear I like. Now old man.....just how old?” 1:34:45 PM 4/05/10 “Mark0, I will gnaw a hockey stick out of downed wood when I get there!” 5:15:26 PM 4/05/10 “He'll be 72 when he arrives in AK. He can still out hike me I think. But, he makes me carry all the heavy stuff.” 6:40:45 PM 4/05/10 “Tango.......such a practical girl. Got all the eggs in your basket, huh?” 4:29:20 AM 4/06/10 “Mark0, I will gnaw a hockey stick out of downed wood when I get there!...Tango Must make myself a mental note to follow up on this when we get there......” 7:17:10 AM 4/06/10 “Watch the Penguins game today, watch Brooks Orpik #44, I will model my treatment of you when you follow up on how he plays today! I know it will be hard to check you into the boards but...” 7:57:37 AM 4/06/10 “Insert "gnaw on downed wood" joke here.....” 9:21:11 AM 4/06/10 “Did I just hear on the news this morning that a volcanoe outside of Ankorage went boom?” 9:35:27 AM 4/06/10 10:04:24 AM 4/06/10 “If the griz don't getcha, the volcano might.” 10:20:19 AM 4/06/10 10:22:09 AM 4/06/10 “There is a volcano very near where we are going.” 1:46:59 PM 4/06/10 “Now that winter has gone get your self in shape for this trip. Mileage will be approx 5 to 8 miles a day in Alaska and that is equal to 10 to 16 miles on a trail. Ask those who have gone past year or before. Tussock and silt quick sand along with stream crossings will tax your energy. We do however have 20 hrs of daylight. Hit the trails and sign up for the Cranberry trip if you can in May and lets talk Alaska.” 2:22:53 PM 4/07/10 “My knees hurt just reading that! 20 hrs of daylight...that's reassuring! NOT!!!” 3:29:34 PM 4/07/10 “well Ms Tango.....I don't plan on hiking 20 hrs but I do plan on getting at least 7 to 8 hrs sleep and if we average 1 mile an hr that's a good day in Alaska. Usual start time around 9am and usual stop time 4pm maybe 5 pm with several photo opps and lunch. Piece a CAKE” 5:13:05 PM 4/07/10 “On the trail by 9 what are you a bunch of bankers. Gees get you ares on the trail by 7:30 or 8 at the latest. The earlier yous start the earlier you can be drinking Scotch at camp. We can drink Scotch at camp, right? Kinda important I might have should have asked this before I sent in my deposit.” 6:45:05 PM 4/07/10 “Scotch! Is that like Gatorade? Now Takillya is a fine drink. 8am is even better if we can roll everyone out. Early morning is a good time to see Caribou and Moose.” 3:06:21 AM 4/08/10 Jump to Page << prev
