for aac members...

AAC members in good standing are automatically enrolled in a Trailhead Rescue membership with Global Rescue, providing the member with $5,000 of coverage for rescue and evacuation to the nearest hospital or clinic because of a serious illness or injury that occurs beyond the start of the trail. A myriad of backcountry activities are covered, including climbing, hiking, skiing, and mountain biking, and there is no elevation limitation.

# GR is not insurance, but a rescue and emergency services company. A good way to think about GR is like an automobile club. If you have AAA and break down somewhere, you can call them and they will dispatch either a local tow truck or their own teams to come tow you away, but they don't pay for your auto repairs, and they don't pay if you arrange your own tow truck and send them a bill three weeks later.

# It is very important to note that Trailhead Rescue coverage expires if a climber allows his or her AAC membership to lapse. If, for instance, your AAC membership paid-through date is March 31, 2009, and you don't renew by that time, your Trailhead Rescue benefit will expire on that date.

# To use your Trailhead Rescue benefit, AAC members must call Global Rescue as soon as possible during an emergency. When injured within the United States, members should call 911 immediately and then contact Global Rescue as soon as possible during the course of the rescue. The-24 hour Global Rescue hotline number is 1-617-459-4200.

# AAC members can upgrade to a full Global Rescue membership at a 5% discount. Full Global Rescue memberships provide up to $500,000 of rescue and evacuation services, are good for any emergency you may encounter--not just backcountry incidents--and provide coverage from the point of injury or illness to the member's hospital of choice, any time he or she is more than 160 miles from home. (Note, the 160-mile limitation does not apply to the AAC's basic "Trailhead Rescue" coverage.) Full membership also ensures that the patient's care will be followed closely by Global Rescue's doctors and paramedics. Often, Global Rescue's medical personnel will be with the patient during the rescue.

I meant insurance as in you have a rescue plan in place if you need it. Looks like I am buying it. It's well worth it.
So Yogisan you comming along?
Chitistone I have looked at and it is possibly on my list 2011. Jarvis area I have mastered in a way with being there. Looking at also another area called Mt Logan Yogisan. I don't climb but I sure would love to go to Mt Logan, in the Yukon Kluane National Park

There is another section of the Park I would love to do. According to McCarthy Air and WrangellMt Air,Both guide services there at Kennecott has told me about Bremner to Tebay Lakes some 50 plus miles and only a couple of teams ever have done it. Takes some 7 to 10 days maybe. I would love to get a strong team and try it. Have a Bush Pilot drop off a FEED Bear Barrell half way for resupply.
this is suposed to be the hardest hike in the park. Lets do it?!!!!!
I have already put hundreds of hrs into trip planning and have all the maps and logistics, as I was wanting to do it last year. Suposed to have the most Grizz in the park along this section. Most challenging too, Lets do it 2011?

Okay Bremner to Tebay is on for 2011 and I'll send you what a guide service has sent me, as soon as I locate it on my external hard drive.
That section crosses a couple glaciers and some rugged country.

I have all the way points of both teams that has made it in the last 6 years. Many attempts have been made but someone either bails out or they find themselves lacking experience according to the guides there. A strong team with years experience can do it. A glacier class will need to be taken before they will let us do it.

2011 would give me time for this. i am book smart on glacier travel, but we don't have a lot of glaciers here in illinois upon which to practice.

i'll seriously consider your trip this july if you send me the info. it would be good to get some alaska time in beforehand.

Yogisan--welcome aboard, looking forward to meeting you, and the others I haven't met. I'm booking for July 1st also, as I've had too many times in July that flights have been delayed in July due to storms across the country. I would rather get there early than chance on a day late.

Weight goal this trip will be 45 lbs. Last 2 trips been way out of control for me in and around 70 plus pounds. This trip I am bringing nothing but my lightest gear and all those rocks I have collected lat 2 trips will not be in my pack.
Tango...those temps are quite accurate. 30's at night and 70 during the day and at one point early in our 08 trip it got as high as 80's.

if you take a loaner from the rangers make sure to get the make/model so you can look up the dimensions. they can get really large and bulky and difficult to get in or strap on your pack. they always feel great strapped on empty but not so great when full of food! also, some cans are easier to strap outside a pack than others.

i have an extra BV450 Solo if someone wants to borrow it. i could get 4-5 days packed inside it but not everyone has the same food plan.

btw, i'll have my iridium sat phone with me and i have a ton of bundled minutes. i'll gladly pay for my share of the minutes fridge is buying but i wanted to offer it's use to the group as well. it would be good to have more than one phone if the group splits up... being such a large group and all.

Weather and Temps will dictate if we have a 0 day at first camp. If it's exceptionally cool we could lay over and spend that full day either climbing a false peak at Jarvis or head down to the Jacksina Glacier, but if it's HOT and Rain we will need to get to those creek crossings. Best time to cross Glacier streams are very early in the morning. First year there we had temps in the 80's and even went skinny dippin at Mesa Lake whased our tushes. When we got to Jacksina creek to cross the next day, that was not possible due to Hot temps and melting snow packs, glaciers feeding the Jacksina. Then it drizzled for 2 days then stopped and like over night the Jacksina dropped some 2 feet but by then we had to retreat to our back up, pick up landing area.
Early morning is the best time to cross.

We have 3 very small streams to cross and all 3 are Glacier fed and will be some of the coldest water flowing on the planet. Ask Spam, Crashbang, Randall just how cold Glacier fed water systems are.
