Snake Eyes will not sleep in any shelter. I don't think he even lives in a house. Crapper, perhaps;)

Driving back to NW Indiana on Sunday. Much worse

I'm actually about 35 miles from Chicago surrounded by 100-year-old trees with lots of deer and coyotes decimating my attempts at gardening--sort of a love/hate relationship. And no serious withdrawal symptoms coming back here.

So I'm far enough away to not have to put up with the city daily, but close enough to take advantage of some of the cool things there like the south side blues clubs.

Ever been to BLUES on the North side? Great place.
Wounded Knee

Sho nuf, been to BLUES, nice place. The South State Street clubs are a bit grittier and the music is too, which is probably why I like them so much.

My sympathies. Driving back to Chicago on a Sunday is bad enough, but having to go all the way to the armpit of Chicago...my condolences.

We've reached our limit of 10 so closed the trip from any further sign-ups. (8 people signed up here and 2 non-forum hikers, Keith and Cool Breeze, signed up directly with me.) If you want to wait list, sign up as a maybe and if we have any cancellations, I'll contact you or post the slot on this thread.

You might want to clarify about the count. B isn't on the list and you would be the 8th one. Looks like I'm out for sure because I'm only a maybe. Someone put together another trip for this weekend.

Randall, Uncle B, Windigrrl--I have no idea whether the park rangers will actually come out and do a headcount and even if they do, are they really going to kick 3 of us out? Of course, if they're reading this, they just might, but what the hey...

I've never had 100% of the people who signed up for a trip actually show up so it may be moot anyway.

4 people will be parking their vehicles at other places than the Shelter #5 parking area, so the # of cars won't be a giveaway.

Coyote820,
I'll be starting my hike at the Hwy P trailhead 7+ miles north of Shelter #5 at Noon on Friday, arriving at Shelter #5 around 4. I will have already staged my car at the Hwy H trailhead 7+ miles south of Shelter #2. If you're leaving Monday, I can shuttle you back to your vehicle. If you're leaving Sunday, you'll have to make shuttle arrangements with other Fri-Sun attendees.

Croft
We will start up at HWY P we may or may not be there right at 12:00 go ahead without us.

Do you know how far from the road Shelter 5 would be? The Trail looks pretty dry from shelter 5 down to shelter 3 if Shelter 5 would not be far we could cache 2 or 3 gallons of water on the way up?

We will be staying thru Monday and would need shuttle back up to HWY P.

If you can cache an extra gallon at Shelter 2 that would be great?

I got most of my gear ready today as I will not have much time the rest of the week I am ready and really need some time out away from the CITY!!!

Coyote820,
Water pump/spigot 1/2 mile N of Shelter #5 and 2.5 miles north of Shelter #3; both on or very near the trail. I will cache a gallon for you at Shelter #2. No problem with shuttling you back to the Hwy P trailhead on Monday.

Shelter #5 is only a couple hundred yards from the parking area just north of Summit Road on Kettle Moraine Drive.

Gotta bail.

We moved buildings at work this week and I need to spend some time at the office this Saturday. A little bird has told me that it will look good if I am here because a management position is open and I am going for it.

Spalpeen, I never got you email.

I'd like to see you with money, but the thought of you with power scares the beejesus out of me:) As much as I want to give you crap over this, you're making the right choice. Family comes first. A weekend of sucking up to power will benefit your young family much more than the hike...even if you do sell the autographed pictures of me.

This is weird, but I gotta bail too. I was out in the barn throwing firewood into the back of the trailer and the small nub of a branch caught on the bottom of my sweat shirt as I threw the piece of wood toward the trailer. Thus caught, the firewood was redirected into my face, knocking loose my two front incisors and leaving my upper lip with an avulsion that will probably need stitches. I should probably go to town and see some medical people. Sorry.

Croft Jake and I are still coming up hike Friday thru Monday we are planning on starting at Hwy P. B is getting over a bad cold which he thought he could shake by the weekend but has changed his mind.

How many people can sleep in the shelters with number of people shrinking wondering if I could leave our tent at home?

Randall call me I think we are going to take 74 West over to 39 North and head up if you are going we might could swing by and ride together give me a call.

The weather didn't really look that bad hopefully Wisconsin Weather is like here in Indiana wait 5 minutes and it will change for the Rain on Friday looks like we can deal with the rest for the weekend.

Nimblefoot Jake wanted me to ask you if he could come by to see who the Hell Nimblefoot is or toodelbmin si lleh eht ohw
